Hello. I'm a first time user to b this forum, but I would like any feedback I can get. I'm 5 weeks out from the sleeve surgery and I am experiencing extreme Fatigue. I noticed it off and on after 2 weeks, but over the last two days I feel like I can barely move. I get all my fluids in (64 Oz Water, 2 premier shakes a day) and I eat 2 Oz of eggs, tuna or fish 3 times a day. I'm averaging just 600 calories more or less a day. Oh yeah I forgot to mention I'm menopausal and the anxiety attacks are driving new crazy. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

It's not unusual to be fatigued. Are you taking Vitamins? Are you on any meds for BP? If so - they may need to be adjusted. If you're in a hot climate - increase fluids - try something with electrolytes. Hormones are all out of whack right now - take care of yourself!

Yes I'm taking all my Vitamins. I'm in three DC area and we're suffering from a heat wave. I go back to work in 3 weeks, but I pretty much stay inside especially during the heat wave. I can take in more Water (big sips), and I guess I'll have to do that to get more than 8 glasses of Water in every day.

It takes a while to get over the extreme fatigue. It gets much better once you are able to increase your calories a bit. Just hang in there and keep following your surgeon's instructions. I still had it after 3 months and my doctor had me increase my carbs a little by adding banana and that helped a ton. Again, check with your doctor or nut.

The fatigue lasted a while for me, didn't start to feel normal until about a month and a half out.

Even if you're taking Vitamins, try to get a variety of soft fruits - like peaches, strawberries, blueberries, oranges and veggies - either shredded like cole slaw or cooked until soft...

My doc told me to up my Water from 64 oz to 90-110 oz because its so hot. Also to replenish electrolytes with a calorie/sugar free sports drink.

I like Powerade zero. It got me through a recent stomach bug. Very mild taste.

I was exhausted for weeks after my surgery. I basically went to work and then came home and went to bed early and slept through the night to repeat the next day. Your body is healing from major surgery and doing so on severely reduced calories. It eventually wanes, but get all the rest you can in the meantime.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
