Feelin like crap...

Recommended Posts

Hey y'all. I was sleeved on 6/29. I was doing great and feeling great until about a week ago. I started feeling really tired and dizzy and nauseous. Dizzy all the time. I'm having the hardest time getting my fluids in and my Protein. I was never a big drinker before and it's the same thing now. I've lost 40lbs already which is great but this dizziness crap is driving me crazy! I'm afraid to drive anywhere because it's so bad. I'm thinking I'm dehydrated. I have my month follow up with my surgeon in 5 days. Anyone else felt this way?

I'm seriously thinking dehydratin. That can turn into a medical emergency really quick !! Drink as much as you can. Did up you call your surgeon?

Consider ER Visit...

Please do not wait 5 days. Call your surgeon - they'll probably recommend you go to ER for an IV. Dehydration is dangerous.

Do you take any medications? Sometimes as you lose weight your medication dosages become too much for your now smaller body.

Likely dehydration, or low blood pressure. Do you take any HBP meds? You might need a little sodium, or potassium, even.

Do you have a home BP monitor?

A few weeks after surgery, my BP was down to 100/60 (nice and normal, but much lower than I'd been). I had to suck on potato chips to get a little salt to up my pressure a bit.

Check BP. Notify the office, if low.

You have to stay hydrated! Think like this now, you can't go anywhere without a Water bottle! It's like your cell phone now! I went to get a tire changed 2 wks after surgery and of course the waiting room machine only had soda so I barely made it to a dollar tree for a propel Water and drank it on the aisle! Also talk to your Dr if you hydrate but still have dizziness!

Thanks guys! I saw my doctor a day or two after that and she said what I suspected. Not getting enough fluids in. I started drinking pedialyte mixed with some flavored water. And feeling much better now!! No more dizziness.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
