I am by no means a big drinker....I drink a few times a year at best.....I have family coming home and would like to enjoy a few socialables....I am worried about how it will hit me and what to have.....does it hit you faster now that your stomach is smaller? Please let me know what to expect.

I waited my year, and yes it hit faster. Didn't feel great afterward so probably won't have often.

Wouldn't drink in public not knowing how I would react. Keep to a few sips and be done

Might want to reconsider how important is is since if I'm reading right you are only a few months out

I had a class reunion last weekend (actually it was the hubbys but we went to the same school) anyways I'm only 5 weeks post op. I had a cocktail. Vodka and cranberry juice. Slight buzz but not really. Then we went to like an after party. I had at least 6 Jello shots. I could Taste the alcohol but no effect really. I was disappointed. A. For drinking. B. No real effect. What a waste. I was never a big drinker because my Tolerance was low. No more alcohol for me. Plus I'm stalling this week now... hmmn I wonder why???

Living and learning.

I'm 5 weeks as well. I had most of a tequila and soda the other night and felt it good. I guess we all react differently.

I'm 2 years out and rarely drink. I had one two nights ago and I felt like crap afterward and woke with a hangover. For me, I don't think it's worth it, lol.

When I/if do have and adult beverage, I plan for it because I still track. And just one hits me no matter how slowly I sip.

My team advised waiting a year before consuming alcohol, if at all. Since it took me 11 months to reach goal as it was, there wasn't any reason to drink empty calories anyway. Plus, like many WLS patients, I was worried about transfer addiction. (It wasn't an issue, but one never knows.)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
