I had the same problem, and I think I moved back to my bed VERY carefully at about 10 days post op. Hope you feel better soon! It gets easier every day, hang in there. :)

I have a hard time sleeping in a recliner. I use 8 king sized pillows and a neck pillow. My husband wedges the pillows under each arm and each side of my abdomen. I'm a side sleeper too. I get my husband to wedge a pillow under my back so I can lean on one side. Sounds like a lot of pillows and work but after awhile being the recliner, it's worth it for your back and your bottom. Getting out of bed is not easy. I make my legs and arms do the work. I still struggle getting out of bed but my husband helps me.

I went home on post-op day 1; now POD 5. The first couple of nights at home, I slept (poorly) very upright using a triangular wedge daybed pillow. After that, I am able to sleep on my side if I bring my legs up to my chest. Still can't really lie flat on my back comfortably.

I also am a side sleeper, and at about 10 days out, could finally sleep comfortably on my side.

I did for about 2 weeks but as time goes by you ll start sleeping in your bed and lying down as normal. But I do still sleep with my pillow propped. I sleep better that way some how.

I was able to sleep on my stomach 2 days post-op. On my side 3-4 days post-op. I can only sleep on my stomach. So everyone is different. You should try it when you're comfortable doing so.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
