Why would you be ashamed? Did you have a setback? Yes, are you human? Hopefully! If you were able to do this completely on your own, you would not have had the surgery in the first place. That is true for most of us! Think of yourself before it gets out of hand. Do what is right for you to get the weight back off. Admit that you had a weakness and the weight gain was preventable, or not. Get back on track and quit beating yourself up! A little secret....I bet you are not the first to have a gain....a bigger secret...you are probably one of the few that admits it! I admire you for that. Now, do what's right for you!

Just bite the dust and go back. The sooner you get it over with the better. If you aren't filled properly you will gain weight and the doctor knows that. You are only human, and we fall off the wagon at times, but the best part is we can jump right back on and our band is waiting for us. Good Luck!

Go now - you know if we had lost that first 10#'s when we first gained it - we wouldn't be where we were when we started this lap band venture. Go and be glad that you ONLY gained 10#'s and get it off and start the venture again!

YOU CAN DO IT!

:gluck:

10 pounds is nothing to be ashamed of. A lot of us have over 100 to lose. Just go to the doctor and get back on track. They wont judge. ;)

I've put on 10 lbs in 7 mos. and too ashamed to go back to the Dr.

Newsy: Bless your heart, I am back to my starting wt! All the wt. I lost was there again, talk about feeling awful! I finally bit the bullet and went back to my surgeon. He said some people need a tighter fill, and that all we need to do is fill, and get back on track. Because of embarrassment, I have been struggling with this since January! Your surgeon is there to help. I agree with everyone else, we didn't go thru all of this to feel that way. You will be fine we all will. Your post and everyone's replies have been such a blessing to me. Thank you soooo much! Amy

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
