Shaunie 123 Posted July 22, 2016 I've been in a lot of pain because of it!!!! My team has me taking maralax and colac and nothing yet.
Moogle 116 Posted July 22, 2016 Miralax and me did not mix too well. I had difficulty getting it down. At my four week follow-up I brought the issue back up and they switched me to Colace - I take 400mg daily now. Going every other day, which is so much better than the once a week before. I buy it generic at costco in a large container.
BJames42613 41 Posted July 22, 2016 If your doctor approves, try Metamucil... The Fiber will help. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
Shaunie 123 Posted July 22, 2016 Colac has done nothing for me!!! How are you expected to have a loss without ever going to the bathroom? So frustrating Sent from my SGH-T999L using the BariatricPal App
Shaunie 123 Posted July 22, 2016 I'll mention that if I don't go by my next appt. Sent from my SGH-T999L using the BariatricPal App
catwoman7 11,221 Posted July 22, 2016 almost everyone has Constipation problems post-op. You just have to experiment with various treatments or combos of treatments to see what works for you - Colace, Miralax, prunes, Smooth Move tea, magnesium supplements, Benefiber, etc. p.s. don't take Fiber supplements like Benefiber when you're already backed up. Deal with that first, *then* start taking Benefiber regularly. Otherwise, you could make it worse. I take Milk of Magnesia when I'm really backed up, but this can only be used occasionally - not regularly
Shaunie 123 Posted July 22, 2016 No no fiber for me yet! I did milk of magnesia and colace no luck. They changed it to marilax and colace hoping that does something. Did you experience stomach oains due to it? It put me in the er the other day :'( Sent from my SGH-T999L using the BariatricPal App

MCE1205 47 Posted July 24, 2016 I'm 14 weeks post op. I was constipated too during first month but it lasted only a week or so. I increased my Water and that seemed to do the trick. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

meyouus 415 Posted July 28, 2016 I have issues with Constipation regularly (pun intended) and I'm a year out. I was told by my surgeon not to take laxatives. He put me on Miralax, which doesn't always work, but does a decent job when used every day. When it doesn;t work, I use suppositories and that gets things moving, allowing the Miralax to keep doing it's thing. I hope this helps!
