Surgical glue to close incisions?

Recommended Posts

I am allergic to all types of adhesives. My doc suggested using surgical glue to close my incisions. Has anyone else had just surgical glue to close their outer incisions? How did they or are they healing?

I do. I'm three 1/2 weeks out and they're slowly healing. My friend had regular stitches and hers are gone. Mine are still gluey

That's what I had. No issues at all!

It took me about 3 1/2 weeks to heal and the glue came off as I started washing it more in the shower.

@@nakole73 I had glue. I know they are invisibly sutured also. The glue has come off one of them and it is doing fine. The other are starting to lift a bit (had surgery July 12). I had told my surgeon I wanted to be able to bathe and they told me the glue would allow me to do that. I'm trying to just let them wear off. Today was the first day I was able to bend over without my largest incision hurting me.

I had the glue and it as fine... Looked a little funky as it started coming off, though:)

Glue and invisible stitches for me as well, and they're healing quite nicely. My surgery was on the 9th.

My doctor used the surgical glue and I was allergic to it. After the glue fell off it itched horribly, and I developed red bumps around all my incisions. I had to by anti-itch cream. It went away after a week.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
