GetBack_095 87 Posted July 21, 2016 I told my self before i had surgery, the day i get back home from the hospital I'm hitting the gym. Sadly, that didn't happen i totally under estimated the pain lol. I was laid up for 6 days, told my self as soon as i get back mobile and the pain is gone and this drain is out of my stomach I'm hitting the gym. After the pain was gone then i went to my 1 week post-op appointment... BOOM... i catch a cold sore throat and a fever and back laid up on bed rest. I was depressed on how my success will be and how much weight i will lose due to my inactivity. But gladly, the weight has been losing it self and at a satisfying rate and i couldn't be happier. It just show me that my results will be much better when i get back in the gym and start working out. M!@ 320 Posted July 21, 2016 CarlAllen_95, We were all super motivated about what we were going to do...even more so for me now at 8 months post op. However, you are in the early, early stage, and I know our expectations can get ahead of us, but please take in slow and follow your surgeon's guidance regarding incorporating exercise: You will need weeks to heal and this is key to long term success...the gym will be ready and waiting for you once you are cleared by your doctor. Congratulations on your success thus far...there is much more where that came from.
missblonde20 72 Posted July 21, 2016 Awesome news and yes, don't be too hard on yourself!
Barry W 336 Posted July 21, 2016 20lb in two weeks is awesome - congrats! As far as hitting the gym ASAP, I'd suggest waiting until you are properly healed up - a hernia would be a major setback. In the meantime, you can always walk - it's some of the best exercise in any time :-)

I agree that you should take it slow!!! You definitely don't want to injure yourself. Slow and steady! You're on your way. My surgery is on August 8 th and I've already asked about the gym Lol Dr said go now before surgery because it helps the process. After surgery I'll only be able to walk for about 6 weeks. Ugh! Lol but I'm following those guidelines. Keep me posted ???? Dawnie_doo Edited July 21, 2016 by Dawnie Doo

When the time come when the scale reads the same for 2 weeks im gonna stay off the scale for 3 weeks and let it pass. I heard how long the stall lasts depends on how the person handles it. Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted July 21, 2016 To use a cliche: this is a marathon and not a sprint. You just had major surgery. Your primary goal right now should be healing and health. The weight loss will come. Rest, walk some, sip, sip, and sip. The best thing you can do right now is focus on getting in all of your Fluid and Protein. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

mnicci1 6 Posted July 22, 2016 Don't over do it. I went shopping just five days after surgery and became light headed and dizzy due to doing too much too soon. I should know better, being that I've now had 17 surgeries. Take it slow. I just started going to the gym, 2-3 times a week, last week and I'm 4 weeks out. Let your body heal before you try to push it. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
LadyK44 263 Posted July 22, 2016 (edited) Take it slow. You are sleeved for life do not over do it. I have been sleeved for almost two years and I am still moving forward. This is your new lifestyle. Not a fade diet. You are doing great. Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App Edited July 22, 2016 by LadyK44
