Meeting surgeon for first time

Recommended Posts

Hey so I'm super nervous, I meet my surgeon for the first time tomorrow. Did I mention I'm nervous. I keep worrying that he is going to give me some unachievable amount of weight to lose before surgery. Anyway I'm sitting here making a list of questions to ask the dr tomorrow, and I thought I'd see if yall had any I hadn't thought of yet.

Great question, I would be interested in the responses. I don't meet my surgeon until August 22, I hate the waiting part!

I am a "self-pay" so that may be part of it. Had I not needed the cardiologists "ok" they could have gotten me in by August 15th.

Let us know as soon as you get a date and Good Luck!! This is an exciting journey we are on. Read via this app daily. You will learn SO much!!

Bosh, no one can lose a set amount on demand. The idea is to lose as well as you can.

1. Losing weight means less fat on the liver, making it more flexible to be pushed and prodded around during surgery.

2. You get a nice head start on losing weight.

3. By losing weight before surgery, you're showing yourself that you mean business. Do you know how many people would rather eat as usual until after surgery? Where's the seriousness in that?

I was told when my appointment was made that he will give me a set amount to lose before he will schedule my surgery. I was told it's standard for everyone. Yes I know why it's important to lose as much as u can prior to surgery, which is why alot of Dr's use a liquid diet prior to surgery. And it's not that I'm not serious about losing weight I've just had a hard time getting past the 20 lbs mark.

My surgeon just wants me to try and lose 10 pounds before surgery but said it's not required. So not all surgeons are the same. Good luck at your appointment!
