Quest bar, I'm rounding into week 5 and have no problems so far with foods. I see my docs

Today. Just curious if I could nibble on it since I'm going to a convention this weekend and it's easier to pack a bar in my purse. So any thoughts? My shake I can get in the morning. And we do break for lunch so I can get a planned meal in then.

Quest bars are high in carbs, although I think the sugar content is relatively low. I tried a Think Thin bar yesterday, the nutritional profile is great, but it honestly tasted and felt like chocolate sand in my mouth :( I'm still searching for a bar that I like that also meets my needs. I don't necessarily want to plan them as Meal Replacements, but use them like you're talking about...keeping one in my handbag would give me a decent option in a pinch.

At 5 weeks post op you've been cleared for a general diet I'd guess?

Quest bars are probably the best choice out there in terms of Protein and taste.

Most tend towards too sweet for me, but the chocolate Peanut Butter isn't as bad.

That said, you still want to be certain you are getting three meals in- so if you OCCASIONALLY need to resort to a bar make it your meal and eat it all at once. Nibbling on it through the day is typically a no no- akin to snacking. Remember to hydrate constantly between meals and likely you won't be hungry between. Have fun!!!

I depended on Protein Bars for months. My favs are Power Crunch. Several flavors, but chocolate mint is yummy. I also used P3 packs. I'd have starved or passed out without those in first six months. It's all I could handle size wise and gave quite a bit of Protein. I also carried protein juice packets to mix in ice Water. I don't shy away from things because of a few carbs. Carbs are energy. I was at 23 BMI by nine months post-sleeve and I've been maintaining for four months now by eating wisely and exercising. Sometimes that means an occasional Protein Bar.< /p>

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
