Can someone explain PB powder, how you use it, benefits, etc?

Recommended Posts

Keep hearing about people using PB powder, I see it all over the shelves now but quite frankly, I'm confused.

What are the benefits? How are you using it? Thanks!

I add it to my chocolate Protein Shake. I've mixed it with Water to make into a Peanut Butter consistently-- it's good, but doesn't keep well. I couldn't be bothered whipping up a little each time I got a craving for Peanut butter. So I mainly use it as an add in to stuff now. I've tried it in yogurt, and oatmeal-- I don't love it or hate it that way.

It is powdered Peanut Butter. For me, the benefits are taste and Protein with minimal calories.

I have added it to pudding, Greek yogurt, and oatmeal.

I just like the way it tastes in it's own. (I'm weird). I'll put a small spoonful in my mouth and it takes several minutes for me to get it down, all while enjoying powdery peanutbutteriness. You get all the peanut flavor, but none of the creamy mouth-feel.

I like the chocolate flavor PB powder. I put it in my Protein Shakes, but I really do like to just eat a spoonful. It's much tastier than regular without chocolate.

I don't like that when they take the fat out they add sugar. I used to use it a bit, mixed with Greek yogurt as a dip or sprinkled in oatmeal or a Protein shake... Now I just use real no sugar added Peanut Butter or Syntrax matrix PB Cookie Protein Powder

I use it to make Peanut Butter. I do not eat the PB2 brand because they add sugar. Removing fat and adding sugar is terrible.

I can keep the powder in the house and not touch it, but Peanut Butter is too tempting and I will have spoonfuls. Not worth having in the house.

There really is no benefit......for me, at least.

Flavor isn't that great nor are the macros.

It's just another food that isn't really all that in line with what my goals currently are.

I use powdered Peanut Butter, but not PB2. I use a brand called Santa Cruz Organic Peanut Butter Powder which is available at Whole Foods. The only ingredient is crushed organic peanuts - no other additives. I use it in my morning Protein drink:

1/2 banana

1/2 Cup Unsweetened Almond Milk

1/4 Cup PB Powder

Cinnamon

This Breakfast has 176 calories and 10.4g of Protein.< /p>

And this drink is absolutely delicious! This recipe is on the bag, although they call for a full banana, I only use a half.

Right now when I do use it, I use Jiff powdered Peanut Butter because the only ingredient is peanuts. I bought the PB2 and PB2+chocolate for the kids. They make it and use it on things like toast, Bagels and for dipping fruit into.

My first week was Clear Liquids, so no. It was allowed during full liquids diluted in a shake.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
