Jasminkw 6 Posted July 19, 2016 I'm 252 pounds and I'm 5'3". I recently told an old friend I was having surgery on the 25th via email since we were chatting about something else. She expressed her shock and pretty much told me I was crazy, that I didnt need surgery, BUT she will pray for me and support me. All I could say was *Thanks* Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App
sprocket 104 Posted July 19, 2016 I don't think this is (sadly) uncommon. Sometimes I think that people think they are being "supportive" when they say things like that. You'll get used to saying "thanks" and perfecting a non-committal smile in response to some of the bizarre things that come out of people's mouths. I weighed 262 and am also 5'3". Best decision I ever made was to have WLS. It's been an amazing accomplishment.
ProudGrammy 8,322 Posted July 19, 2016 BUT she will pray for me and support me. @@Jasminkw prepare for many other things to be said in a possible negative way considering all, you might find her comment the least harmful!! your good friend gave you her thoughts she said what she did, and that's ok!!! she continued to say "she will pray and support you" both of her comments are sincere and spoken from the heart i think the ends justify the means? good luck on monday speedy recovery kathy
