I'm 252 pounds and I'm 5'3".

I recently told an old friend I was having surgery on the 25th via email since we were chatting about something else. She expressed her shock and pretty much told me I was crazy, that I didnt need surgery, BUT she will pray for me and support me.

All I could say was *Thanks*

I don't think this is (sadly) uncommon. Sometimes I think that people think they are being "supportive" when they say things like that. You'll get used to saying "thanks" and perfecting a non-committal smile in response to some of the bizarre things that come out of people's mouths.

I weighed 262 and am also 5'3". Best decision I ever made was to have WLS. It's been an amazing accomplishment.

BUT she will pray for me and support me.

prepare for many other things to be said in a possible negative way

considering all, you might find her comment the least harmful!!

your good friend gave you her thoughts

she said what she did, and that's ok!!!

she continued to say "she will pray and support you"

both of her comments are sincere and spoken from the heart

i think the ends justify the means? :)

good luck on monday

speedy recovery

kathy

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
