6 day post op and can't get in fluids or protein

Recommended Posts

Just keep sipping. Try different temperatures and textures. For a long while plain Water was the hardest thing for me to drink. Try infused Water, water enhancers, Decaf tea, sugar-free Popsicles, crushed ice, etc. Try ice cold, room temperature, warm (like tea or soup).

Just keep at it and make short-term goals. If you wait until you are hungry or thirsty you will never get it all in.

Sip, sip, sip.

Hi all! Sleeved on 7/13 and can't seem to drink enough liquids or get enough Protein. Was fine first two days. Now I seem to be very uncomfortable. Any advice or suggestions?

Hey I was sleeved on July 13th also! :D

I spoke to my surgeon after feeling dizzy and heart palpitations. Dehydration is a real problem after surgery.

He told me to get 40 oz of liquid in me, including meals.

Protein scoops with coconut water( 3x a day 12oz)

Protein with bone broth (4 oz)

Isopure flavored Protein Drink half bottle with added Protein powder (10 oz)

popsicles (4oz) and Water for whatever I'm lacking.

I hope this helped a bit. Congrats on making the choice for a healthy life!

Thank you so much! I'm so excited for this journey!! I was afraid that if I didn't drink enough today I may have had to go to the hospital for iv fluids. But I managed to get down a lot of fluids. Tomorrow I hope to tackle some more Protein

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
