What happens if I keep forgetting to take my meds that I'm supposed to keep taking for "the rest of my life". I remember some days but I honestly forget more than I remember!!

❤️????

It may not be today or tomorrow, but at some point in the future you could make yourself extremely sick or possibly even damage your bones/organs if you neglect your Vitamins. I've heard some horror stories harrowing enough to keep me taking them faithfully forever.

You asked what will happen? Just for starters,,,,

- your hair can fall out

- you will likely develop osteoporosis

- you will become malnourished

This list could go on and on....

Ask yourself why you had this surgery in the first place? Was it to get healthy? If so, you put your goals at risk.

But I think you already know that.

Time to start holding yourself accountable.

There are many apps you can put on your phone or iPad that will remind when it is time to take your medications. You can also buy a pill box with different times of day on it. You fill it once a week and when you see that you missed a dose, you know it. I keep mine right out in the living room so if I take a break or watch tv, I cannot miss it.

My problem is not that I forget but now my stomach won't keep it down

I have the same problem some days, especially with my heart and blood pressure meds. The smaller ones and the ones I can cut up to small bits are okay as long as I take about 2 hours to take them. My stomach just doesn't like having the bulk of tablets inside it yet.

FYI I am 2.5 weeks post op and my surgeon said it was okay to take these meds ... well I can't not take them and remain healthy so I don't really have much choice. I asked my doc if there was liquid forms of some of them to help with the issue, but apparently not. So I start taking the meds at 6 am so that my stomach has dealt with them before Breakfast at 9 am.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
