Yeast infections on your skin

Recommended Posts

Hi all- i just thought I would share this little tidbit of info with you. Many of you- like me- have/had suffered from horrid stinky skin irritations in the folds of our skin.

Mine were always under my breasts, and it actually can hurt. They are actually yeast infections- warm, moist dark areas are havens for yeast to grow.

Anyway, after years of trying everything, I finally found that any cream with Zinc Oxide- think Desitin baby rash cream- will knock it out- FAST. Even straight Zinc Oxide like you buy for sun block works.

Obviously keeping the area clean and dry is important, but these nasty irritations always rear their ugly heads and I wanted to let you all know that any OTC baby butt cream with zinc oxide will clear you up in a day.

That's it!

Good info. Thank you.

I have been having the same problem for years under the folds of my "apron".

I have a RX for: NYSTOP. AKA: Nystatin Topical Powder---100,000 UPS units/gr

It is a RX that has to be written by a MD, but if you ever want skin surgery to be paid for by your insurance company, you should be reporting every episode of the rash/outbreak to your MD ---making sure that they document it in your medical record.

You are absolutely correct, the rash/breakout is painful and can really get nasty quickly.

This is what works for me. :)

I second that. I love zinc oxide.

Also, tea tree oil is very effective against fungal infections. Trader Joe's has a tea tree body wash that really helps before the barrier cream. Just be careful washing more "sensitive" areas with it...it can burn like the fires of hell down there...

Good to know V- about the insurance info. Will definitely need to start documenting this!

I love the baby butt cream because it works fast and is cheap! Lol. But I'll certainly ask for a Rx for extra documentation!

I once Nair'd my arm pits, but I have really coarse hair. I thought, "No problem! I'll just leave it on a little longer." Well, it ate away all of my flesh and left the hair. So for a week, I couldn't lower my arms, my hairy, hairy arms.

That was a pity party, trust me.

Yes @Valentina. I have prescriptions for Nystatin powder and cream and am sure to document all my issues each time I see the doctor so that insurance will have a good record for plastics one day.

if you ever want skin surgery to be paid for by your insurance company, you should be reporting every episode of the rash/outbreak to your MD ---making sure that they document it in your medical record.

The infection is intertrigo candidiasis.

Also be sure to take date-stamped photos for your back-up paperwork.

Someone working in a bariatric practice (not mine) recommended applying Nair to the usual, closed areas if one doesn't experience the infection. The goal, of course, is to have more ammunition to get insurance to cover reconstructive surgery. I don't know what a Nair burn could be treated with and inducing a Nair burn for the purpose is unethical. No comment.

Lmao- I wasn't using the Nair for THAT- but for its intended reason- just tried using it in a sensitive area and the sucker BURNED!!!

A great product to help prevent in the first place is Monistat Chaffing cream...this stuff is amazing and not messy like powders...it's not cheap..$5.98 for a small tube at Walmart but well worth it! [emoji3][emoji106]

*crosses her legs*

Ouchhhhhhhh! Bad idea!

I hate that nair stuff... i used it in my early 20s... never again... laser and wax for me thank you.

Re: fungal infections.. i believe that foot fungus cream is useful too (canesten) or an anti dandruff Shampoo with the ingredients below as a body wash is good for getting rid of yeasts and fungus on the skin.

Selenium Sulfide

Pyrithione Zinc

ketoconazole

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
