TracyBar 132 Posted July 18, 2016 Hi, I can't have soy or dairy - what options (that hopefully don't taste terrible!) are there for Protein Shakes?

Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted July 18, 2016 Are you looking for Meal Replacement or just Protein supplements? I don't know what the Protein source is but you might want to look at something like ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates. You'll have to check the label. I have heard of pea protein supplements but have never tried any.
Christinamo7 4,042 Posted July 18, 2016 there are some vegan pea Protein options. I did not personally like them, but if you have a whole foods/whole body store near you they usually sell one serving packets so you could try several non soy/non dairy options without having to buy a whole jar. determinedtolive 134 Posted July 19, 2016 Hemp Protein is also an option. Haven't tried it so I can't speak on taste. Sent from my Moto G (4) using the BariatricPal App
doppelganger 54 Posted July 19, 2016 If you have a Vitamin Shoppe nearby they usually have a few non-dairy Protein supplements available in single serve packs you can buy before committing to a huge $$ tub.

Clementine Sky 708 Posted August 26, 2016 As mentioned above, there's are vegan Protein powders that you might like. The brands I see most often at the (outrageously overpriced but very popular) juice cafes near me are SunWarrior and KaChava. I've never spotted KaChava at a store, but I've seen sample sizes as well as the tubs of SunWarrior at Whole Foods. I would definitely start off with a sample if you can find one. I want to say that I saw them at Sprouts as well, but I'm not entirely positive. You could do a search on Amazon of vegan Protein powders and read the reviews for more feedback, and to read the ingredients list. The Vitamin Shoppe carries an almond milk that is low in carbs and much higher in protein than other brands, while still being reasonably tasty (in my opinion). The last time I bought it they had a 2 for 1 deal. Hemp milk or cashew nut milk might also blend with a Protein powder nicely.
