Hi @ all

my name is Michael and i´m an german obese Guy ... ok .. in the Moment my BMI is at 28, i think. In my best Times my BMI was at 45.

In 2006 a german Surgeon told me "I see you on my table" ... i said "ok ...if you're a pathologist" ;-)

5 Years later in January, 11, i was his patient .... with 160 kg (~ 320 lbs)

End of the year 2011, I had already lost 60 kg. Sometimes it was a horror-show but it is really cool if you know what you can eat. if you know what you can eat it is really great. What you can not eat it shows so quickly. In my best times my weight was at 85 kg .. now there are 96 kg. But it´s ok. I feel good and i look healthy .. i think ;-)

In Germany, we are a developing country when it comes to bariatric surgery. So .. some friends and me starting with a non governement Organisation to help other obese People. We do this unsalaried and sometimes it´s a hard job.

In Germany the people and the politicans believe we would undisciplined and lazy. They don´t understand the obesity.

I´m looking so often to the USA to learn new things about the obesity and maybethere is sometime an opportunity to alleviate the obesity without surgery. Sorry, dear Surgeons .. but this can´t be the End of all.

So i´m happy to be here ...

Regards

Micha

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
