All my antibiotics had to be liquid, they were not crushable. Please check with your GP asap. I was not cleared to take any tablets for six weeks. In fact, as I have been ill, I still only take small tablets, the rest I use liquids.

You should also be taking an acid reducer, in the UK we are given lansoprazole. We take that for six months. It's given as a dispersible tablet for the first six weeks.

I don't know why but all medications they prescribed were tablets and the doctor today told me to crush them and swallow fast because they would taste horrible! I'm thinking of returning medication except for my antibiotic and buying new ones from the UK hopefully liquid form.

It al depends really. Some meds are crushable, some aren't. Some can be ordered as liquid, some can't. If your surgeon told you to crush them and take them, then he must know what he is doing.

You really do need to get some proper advice.

Hahahaha! Hey y'all! I'm doing much better today :)

I forced myself to go walking more than 10 minutes today by walking to a near supermarket near the hotel that's like 15 minutes away! Came back tired but it totally made me feel better! So I'll keep walking everyday.

Been sleeping all day. Can't wait to be back home tomorrow! Home sweet home! my room! My bed! My friends! And tesco hahahaha! I wanna buy sugar free jelly and Popsicles. I still haven't tried to drink anything but Water. And I badly need to stop thinking about food. Junk food.

Well done on the walking, keep it up, it does help.

Only one more sleep then you'll be back home, well done Lulu, the worst is over.

Now get those thoughts of junk food out of your head immediately.

I've bought some Protein bars today, they're scrummy, taste like Snickers, or for us oldies, Marathon bars ;)

Take it easy Lulu. Walking is good but you have just had a major surgery. Asda do a great range of ice lollies (so far, none sugar free) that are super lo cal and great for hydration.

So glad you are better and will feel much happier once you are home safe in the care of your GP!

I'm at the airport now in Poland waiting an hour to board and its s long way until I reach home. I'm feeling very dizzy I don't know what to do. I had plenty of Water but it's not helping and I'm scared to have juice, all the ones here sold are regular ones with high sugar content

Lulu_lulu, hope you arrived home safely. My story is not unlike yours- I had my op in Czech Rep and went by myself. The Co who took me was amazing though and the rep came in each day to check up on us (2 others who I didn't know) and brought ice lollies and smooth yoghurt. Unfortunately the Co went bust in 2013 and there is no follow up. Only my husband and kids know and to this day (op 2012) rest of family do not know.

The first couple of weeks are hard (as in feeling tired) so try and take care of yourself. The heparin injections are easy to do, just grab a roll of fat on tummy area and jab. liquid is your friend so get in as much as you can. I used canned Soups and while on the liquid phase just strained any bits out then when I got to purée I just blended with a stick blender. I used a tablet grinder for the first couple of weeks but after that I could take my Vitamins whole. I was lucky in that my friend is a nurse and she removed stitches for me (forgot that she knows too!). If your GP has a practise nurse they should be able to remove them when required. I found sleep hard the first couple of weeks too, found it helpful to have pillow across lap when sitting and sleeping.

The worst is over and there is nothing nicer than sleeping in your own bed.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
