GinaCampbell 434 Posted August 2, 2016 Really glad you are okay! I am really concerned at how little info you have at the moment. I was on Water only for 24 hours. And I had no hunger at all for the first six weeks. I have been told to drink 2 ltrs a day. If the injections are the ones I had post op, they are very simple to administer and you should be having one before bed everyday. No, I don't think a nurse will come out Lulu, this is all a bit concerning because you don't seem to have any post op care. I had to wear compression stockings for six weeks post op to prevent blood clots from surgery, nothing to do with the flight. Who is going to do your post op care? I think that you had better contact your GP as soon as you get home and get some advice and instruction. What surgery did you have? RosieCheeks 105 Posted August 2, 2016 I too am concerned at your post lack of care/info. I didn't have to wear compression stockings, no-one ever mentioned them to me. Gina, were you told to drink 2 litres from the off? I seem to remember something like 2 glasses for the first week or so then building up to 2 litres a day as you could manage it? Yes Lulu, get to your GP asap on return, make sure you have some follow-up.
RosieCheeks 105 Posted August 2, 2016 Also, I know I said sleep a lot but you need to balance that with getting up and moving around, that helps too.
RosieCheeks 105 Posted August 2, 2016 (edited) I've got to go out now, early morning meeting but good luck Lulu, let us know how you're doing and I'll catch up with you later. Stay calm! x Edited August 2, 2016 by RosieCheeks
Lulu_lulu 32 Posted August 2, 2016 I'm doing okay. Much better. Feeling a tiny slight headache. Slept for 12 hours which I think is enough. Trying to think of how to shower without wetting my incisions. Gina, i had a sleeve surgery and I don't know about post op care. My family have no clue at all that I had surgery but my best friend back in the Uk knows and I'll be informing my GP in the UK and tell her that I had surgery. I'll check today if they sell compression stockings here at the pharmacy and buy them. Too be honest, the thing that frightens me other than being alone here is my dissertation which needs to be submitted in almost a month! I think I'm the only person in the world who would go out of their mind to have surgery before a short period of their deadline... I'll tell you something but don't laugh lool. Yesterday I had more than one dream (nightmare to be specific) that I was eating so much food hahahaha! In the first dream aka nightmare I ate the whole dinner table and finished by eating more than a croissant! At one point, I could barely breath! I felt like chocking so I woke up frightened and actually believing than I'm eating in reality lol! Strange... Lulu_lulu 32 Posted August 2, 2016 If it says that I can have "sugar free drinks that are not carbonated" does this mean juice? I really need to have something other than water... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
GinaCampbell 434 Posted August 2, 2016 To clarify about fluids, I was told to sip all the time I was awake. Aiming for 30 ml an hour from day two. I was still in hospital on day two with a drain in. Maybe you don't need compression stockings because you are moving around? As I say, I really don't understand how you could have such a major surgery with such little aftercare. All I can say is that I would contact my GP for an appt asap. You should have been given lots of information on how to look after yourself, take your meds, Vitamins etc following surgery. I certainly would have a stern word with the patient coordinator too! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Lulu_lulu 32 Posted August 2, 2016 There are so many things I did not like about the clinic. So many. But with my incisions pain and feeling weak, I cannot be mad now. So I'll leave it for later. Also, to be honest, from my part, I didn't think it was a major surgery! I mean I know all about it but seeing all my aunts and my cousins being sleeved back in my country, I thought it's easy and painless and I'll recover in no time! That's why I didn't think about post op care, I thought I could it do it all on my own. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
GinaCampbell 434 Posted August 2, 2016 I am sure that you will be fine but I personally think that having the majority of your stomach removed is major surgery. The majority of people do recover well and don't have much pain. Don't be mad but certainly be firm about your post op care. If I am honest, I am speechless as I have never heard about anything like this. I was on clear fluids for quite awhile so I am not sure how to advise you. I know for sure it was Water the first 24 hours. Then low cal squash, diluted fruit juice, still diet drinks etc. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

GinaCampbell 434 Posted August 2, 2016 These were my instructions. I stayed on this from day three to seven weeks out. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Lulu_lulu 32 Posted August 2, 2016 Thanks, Gina! My patient coordinator is picking me up in few hours to go to the clinic for final checkup and injection. They gave me a paper as to what should I drink/eat each week. And this week it's only broth - Decaf tea and coffee and jelly and sugar free drinks. JJCool 104 Posted August 2, 2016 Hey Lulu, glad to hear you came through the surgery well - though like others I'm sad to see how little after care you're getting. I'm happy to help if there is anything I can do! I was allowed juice when I came home from the hospital but was told to have it mixed with half Water. The high sugar content can play havoc with your digestion - especially at the beginning. Have a good flight home, I'm sure you'll feel loads better when you're back in your own bed. PS - if you can get a pillow or a jumper or something to hold on your tummy with a bit of pressure during the flight it will help in case you have any sudden turbulence. Lulu_lulu 32 Posted August 2, 2016 I just crushed a pill from my antibiotic and had it and now I feel so sick. So so sick. Other pill is not being crushed no matter how hard I hit it so I just left it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Other pill is not being crushed no matter how hard I hit it so I just left it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Juice has too much sugar so avoid it. You can add flavors to Water - crystal light, Mio drops, etc. Try broth, tea, sugar free popsicles, Vitamin water zero. Be careful with crushing pills - not all formulas should be crushed (time release). Always check with surgeon or pharmacist before crushing. Hope you feel better soon!
