Yes, that sounds like a drain. Some surgeons put those in, some don't. Try to stay calm and rest, a drain is okay.

Maybe write all your questions down and get them answered when your surgeon comes to see you.

Is there a coordinator that organised your surgery that you can contact for help with interpretation via the telephone?

It's hard to sleep with a drain and bottle of blood hanging from you. Yesterday I accidentally pushed hard on it while sleeping so blood was all over my bed.

They told me doctor will be here in an hour or two.

I already texted my patient coordinator.

I have another question: I'm used to sleep on my right side, however, after surgery the only position that's comfortable is on my back. Was it the same with you? If I sleep on my side I can feel some pain from my incisions.

Calm down Lulu. They will take the drain out soon and yes, for a few weeks I could only sleep on my back. Apart from that, how are you?

I have not been giving anything to eat. Only sips of Water.

This is perfectly normal, the will probably offer you some clear Soup tomorrow.

I can now only sleep on my back. That is pretty normal, you will get used to it while you heal.

Try not to let the drain get pulled around alot. Use pillows to support yourself around your sides so when you sleep, you won't rag it about. The drain is a good thing right now.

Everything that you are saying all sounds really normal. Keep sipping your Water, it will help you.

Try not to get upset, it must be hard there for you right now. Sending healing thoughts!

Gina

I'm Doing fine I guess apart form the incisions pain especially every time I get up and sit down.

They just told me that they will discharge me today and I need to go to the clinic to buy the injections for blood clots and antibiotics. I told them I thought this is included and they said no. I told them I already spent so much, more than the price I was expecting! and if I needed to pay now I will have to ask my friends to transfer money.

I'm going to the hotel tonight and will spend the night there. Let's hope I manage by my own.

I'm not trying to be a drama queen. But seriously this is my first time having surgery and I don't know what to expect! All I've been told before surgery is that it will be fine and painless. Anyways, thank you so much for your comments! Really appreciated! :)

You need those injections and antibiotics. And you need to be wearing surgical compression stockings.

Call your coordinator asap and ask if they can arrange them.

When do you fly home?

No-one is accusing you of being a drama queen. Having surgery is scary but having surgery in another country where you are struggling to understand people is doubly scary, we understand your fears. Just try to keep calm and sleep as much as possible, it really does help. Get your injections, that is a must. Your company don't sound very supportive, keep posting questions, we'll help as much as we can. x

Rosie is right! You are bound to be emotional and worried. I will help anyway I can.

You have to have those injections and I would definitely get the antibiotics.

Rosie & Gina

Thank you so much for all your encouraging words and comments. You have no idea how they have helped me yesterday to stop being lazy and get up and walk and try my hardest to sip Water.

I bought all medication except for Vitamins which I'll get in the UK and the clinic didn't mention anything about surgical compression stockings. Maybe cz the flight is only an hour and 15 minutes?

I have another question which the clinic didn't give me a definite answer for: how much liters/ml do I need to be drinking of Water so I won't get dehydrated?

Also, The clinic discharged me and I'm at the hotel now until tomorrow. Should I go down to the hotel restaurant and order clear Soup or a juice? I'm starving and sometimes I get dizzy no matter how much water I drink and walk.

I'm flying home early Thursday morning.

Also, is it possible when I'm back in the UK that my GP could arrange a nurse coming to me to give me injections? I mean I tried giving myself injections in the past but I don't want to do it now.

Glad you're okay Lulu.

Maybe try some clear Soup but in reality only a couple of spoonfuls. Personally I just didn't feel like anything, it's down to how you feel I guess. As for Water, just keep sipping throughout the day, managing what you can but don't try to over-do it, your intake will increase the stronger you get, it's unlikely you'll get dehydrated as long as you keep at it.

The Vitamins will wait 'til you get home.

Before my op I arranged with my GP for the District Nurse to come out every day and do my injections so I didn't get them from the clinic, I got mine on the NHS. I deducted £70 from my clinic's bill. I didn't bring any meds home but I remember my clinic telling me the meds should be fine; if the airport workers stop you, you should show them your discharge form. I flew with Jet2.

Another thing I did was copy my discharge form when i got home and sent it to my GP.

Make sure you're resting enough, sleep as much as you can, it really does help.

How are you feeling now?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
