Are you missing the crunch?

Recommended Posts

Let’s face it . . . sometimes your taste buds want something that crunches. Before surgery, we see a lot of chips and crackers listed Snacks. These are in the carbohydrate food category and are limited after surgery. Happily, there are a couple of Protein chips that are on the market.

Kay’s Naturals Protein Chips come in single serving bags. Each single serve bag has 12 grams of protein from soy protein isolate. This is a good quality protein source. There are a total of 15 grams carbohydrate and 4 grams Fiber. That makes the net carbs 11 grams. So, these chips have more protein than carbohydrate.

Another protein chip is the Quest Protein chips. Each single serve bag has 21 grams of protein from milk and whey protein isolate. These are good quality protein sources. The Quest chips have a total of 5 grams carbohydrate per single serve bag. Both the Kay’s Naturals Protein Chips and Quest Protein chips come in a variety of flavors. Quest chips can be found at GNC and online. The Kay’s chips are available online.

For those of us that adore chips and dips, these chips are great dipped in salsa or a Ranch style dip. To add more protein to your Ranch dip, you can mix plain Greek style yogurt (a 5.3 ounce cup), 1 tablespoon low fat Mayonnaise and 1 or 2 teaspoons Ranch dip mix. Finally, we’ve got a way to have crunch with a punch of protein!

I'll have to try the Kay's but the Quest chips aren't my thing at all. I've tried every flavor.

The Quest chips taste like salted cardboard. Yuck. IMO

I am severely allergic to anything soy, so there goes the "Kays".

Other than parmesan chips, I am still missing my crunch cracker. :(

I love microwaving some cheddar cheese!! It makes for a great giant chip. I honestly don't miss chips at all, and I was a serious chip addict!!

I add granola to my greek yogurt there is a Protein one.... by nature made... and I get some decent crunch from nuts... pistachio's peanuts and all Protein rich... and good fat rich... and I get some crunch... have yet to look at fat.... for weigh loss... so I jsut ewat what I can as healthy as I can.... sometimes a crunchy pickle helps ease the need for crunch and have no real cals... no fat etc...

Has anyone tried making zucchini chips? Very good and you can add different spices for flavor.

Moon cheese is excellent. It is just cheese dehydrated and baked crispy. You may need to watch the calories if you eat too many. But they have 0-1 carb per serving

Just slice a zucchini into rounds - not too thin. Put a little olive oil on them and sea salt (some people put Parmesan and panko but I make them plain) you can put red pepper flakes or chipotle on. Play with flavored you like. 450 degrees for 25 minutes. :)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
