Hi everyone! I'm a 19 year old student! Highest weight: 296. Current weight: 287. Goal weight: 160 ish. I am super excited for this!i haven't been this excited since the summer after 8th grade! That was five or six years ago! I just decided that I deserve to be happy and feel beautiful and full of energy. I can't wait for my life to change. I made my consultation appointment for November 23rd! It's kinda far away because I'm a college student and I'll be going back to school in one month. They had one date available during the summer but I will already be at school by then. But they said that I would be the first they call if anything opens up!! So keep your fingers crossed for me!

Welcome. This is an exciting, life-changing process.

I see that you posted on the bypass forum. I highly recommend you be open-minded and talk with your surgeon about what procedure is right for you. There are other options besides bypass.

I was sleeved April 20, 2015 and couldn't be happier with my experience and my progress so far. I still have a long way to go but my life is completely different than it was even a year ago.

Also, keep in mind that the process for preparing for surgery can take a lot of time. Be prepared to be patient, persistence, and practice positivity and perseverance.

If you get a chance to have an earlier appointment I recommend you take it. The pre-op process can take some time.

Thank you for sharing! Yes, I've also considered the sleeve, but at this point I think the bypass will be a good thing for me. Of course I will be open to head whatever my surgeon says though!

And yes, I can tell it is a long process. My goal is to get my surgery next summer, but with all the appointments and everything I'm not sure if it will work out that way or not. I'm hoping for the best! And congratulations on your new life! Just thinking about that makes me so excited to start mine!

Welcome! I'm another young'n like you. I had my RNY last August (I was 23), and also a student. I've had great success and I'm now happy and healthy and have my whole life ahead of me! If I can help at all, feel free to message me! I'm also on Facebook if you'd like to friend me there. :) Good luck to you! Now is the time to reclaim your health before years of damage take their toll on you. Be prepared for a HUGE life change and the huge effort and dedication this takes, as well as for the changes that are coming that you may not have expected, and you'll do great.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
