I am a little over two weeks post op and I'm having a hard time drinking Protein Shakes. I think they're disgusting and I hate the chalky consistency. I've added bananas and ice and I still can't drink an entire serving. I know they're crucial at this stage. Help!!!

So i have tried these drinks called Isopure. They go down so much easier, they dont have a chalky texture, they go down like Water but do have an after taste. But i find them 1000 times easier than Protien shakes. They are 40 grams or Protein per 20 oz bottle!!!

I am a huge fan of powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury with Fairlife Milk. It tastes like chocolate milk, but much better for you. You can also order single serving packets so you don't have to buy a canister before you know if you like it.

Have you tried Premier Protein ready-made drinks? (Not their powdered Protein supplement)

I went through the same thing. It's hard to find a good pretein Meal Replacement - and there is a difference between just plain protein (whey protein isolate is what you should concentrate on because after WLS we absorb this one better). Try to get a Meal Replacement early on if you can for all of the other Vitamins in them.

I also have bought the Isopure unflavored Protein powder (not a meal replacement) and I add it to flavored Water when I need more protein. I drink 2 Premier Protein Drinks a day plus the extra protein in my Water if I need it.

You may have to try a few to find one you like. Single serve packs might be a good idea until you know you like something. I also add a couple of spoonfuls of PB2 powdered Peanut Butter (chocolate) and a splash of vanilla extract. The Premier Protein ready made drinks are also pretty good and they have a few flavors.

Body fortress is the new one I can stomach. 42g Protein per can and they taste good. Buy pre made if you struggle with consistency. Trial and error is the best way unfortunately. GNC will let you return an open container if it's gross with the receipt. I also like one in a black and pink container made for women at GNC but I can't remember what it's called.

I agree on the Isopure zero carb drinks. I have to mix it with Water though and then no after taste! Premier Protein shakes are good too. What really helps me is freezing my Protein Drinks into Popsicles. I'm four weeks out and the frozen pops just seem to go down so much easier for me. Good luck!!

A lady told me about trying the less Protein shakes like Atkins or slim fast goes down better I'll be trying tomorrow bc I can't do the 30g of Protein

Please don't touch Slim Fast. I can't imagine a nutritionist or your doctor thinking those are even close to being acceptable...full of carbs, sugar & salt. Premier brand & Oh Yeah brands are great & taste very good. I wish you luck through :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
