judy vsg 126 Posted July 17, 2016 I saw that i can make a smoothie with a banana in my full liquid stage. When it was time to eat dinner, the bananas looked so tempting that i figured if i can have one in a smoothie, i can have one if i chew it well. I had my surgery july 11... Any opinions? Sophie74656 1,572 Posted July 17, 2016 I would definately not so soon. Chewing will not get you the same consistency ans a blender will

missdeeAus 69 Posted July 18, 2016 I tried this at a cafe - yoghurt with some sliced banana - to bites and I new it was a bad move. Took it to go and made a smoothly for lunch when I got home. You can't chew it down it's still too thick. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Kaze 94 Posted July 18, 2016 Soft and semi solid foods will fill you up A LOT in the few weeks post surgery because there is a lot of swelling and restriction. Even a tiny bit of mashed banana will make you uncomfortably full (in most cases) whereas when it's blended up and broken down into a liquid, you'll fare better. This improves week by week. I'd save it just for the fact that you won't enjoy it because it's kind of uncomfortable when you first discover your sleeve "restricting", at least it was for me. judy vsg 126 Posted July 18, 2016 I really appreciate all the responses! This forum is amazing in that we can get true to life answers to our questions, as opposed to textbook answers that some professionals tend to use... CelesteMarie 129 Posted July 18, 2016 The point is kind of moot anyway because you need Protein first. Banana will just take up room for nothing. I am 2 and a half months out almost, and I still only eat Protein first. That's me though. Good things come to good people.
chycky 671 Posted July 18, 2016 I can have banana now in my soft stage not full liquid. I would have w/peanut butter as Breakfast. I try to make at least one of my meals (even thought they are teeny tiny) include a fruit or veggie. Protein is priority but I am hitting 100+ a day now. Katieisin 7 Posted September 1, 2016 Silly I know, but just 2 weeks out of beibg sleeved and I am just busting to have mashed banana with Peanut Butter. Being an ex-bander banana -my fave fruit was impossible to eat so it went out the window with other coarse foods like apples and salad!!! Can't wait to be eating REAL food again. It's been years!! cindyw41 761 Posted September 1, 2016 If you're looking for the flavor, look for extracts or s/f syrups. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
