I had surgery on 6/29 gastric sleeved @ Mass General Hospital . I went to my 2 week post up appt with surgeon and nutritionist. So far I'm one of the lucky ones that haven't had any issues, no nausea, nor pain. She said I can pretty much each eat any food and fruit , but to be smart and use my common sense on what I'm eating. No fried food, no breads, Pasta, nor rice. And try to avoid fruit and veggies with skins. But to definitely try veggies and other food that I may tolerate. And eat my Protein first since my stomach is so small. Just wondering if any one had same diet?

This was exactly what I was instructed by my surgeon at my 2 week post-op checkup. I'm eating grilled chicken and pork, squash, green Beans, cherries, mozzarella cheese, etc. Chewing them to baby food consistency, but it's still real food :)

I'm almost weeks post op and I can barely eat without pain. Is this normal? I'm scared that I'm never gonna get to eat again without worry or pain

What are you eating? Are you taking small sips/bites and chewing well?

Take small sips. Try different temps of your liquids - some tolerate warm more than cold (or vice versa). Good luck! If you continue to have pain - give your surgeon a call.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
