James Marusek 5,244 Posted July 17, 2016 I had RNY gastric bypass surgery 3 years ago. My program requirements said: instant mashed potatoes were O.K. from the beginning in the Full liquid stage. Normal mashed potatoes were acceptable beginning at week 5 when I entered the pureed food stage.

LibrarianBecky 91 Posted July 17, 2016 Just a tip--if you make instant mashed potatoes with all milk, instead of Water it will up the Protein amount in them. Unflavored Protein powder also mixes well in them. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
SusieT 43 Posted July 17, 2016 I buy those individual cups of dry potato mix that you microwave. One of those makes 2-3 servings for me right now. Personally, I prefer Idahoan brand over Betty Crocker. You can thin them with almond milk, etc. Yummy! Nancydhu 13 Posted July 17, 2016 You could add unflavored Protein for that extra goodness Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
CeeGee 30 Posted July 18, 2016 My surgeon only allowed Protein during the puréed stage. I would have love mashed potatoes but I am not allowed to have it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
