I started having bladder issues after my surgery. They thought it was a UTI but I have had 2 rounds of antibiotics and still feeling pressure on my bladder. Could the catheter have done all of this? Or could of they have injured my bladder during surgery.. Help anyone having the same issues. Not sure if I should talk to my surgeon or go see I go see my female doctor.

I would speak to your surgeon. If you can't figure out what's going in - try a Urogynecologist. The catheter could have irritated your bladder. Have you tried pyridium for the pain? I have interstitial cystitis and have bladder infection like symptoms but culture always negative.

There are many forms of Urinary Tract Infection that have become antibiotic resistant. So sometimes using one form of antibiotics may no longer work. Generally a culture should be done to narrow down the approach.

I went to lab Corp and gave them urine for a urinalysis and urine culture .. I believe that's what it was called. And I was out on another liquid anabiotic. And still have pressure on my bladder. I plan on calling the doctor office to speak to my surgeons nurse. To see what all the test results said. I think something else is wrong if I still have bladder issues. It's constant pressure. Worries me.. What would the test all show?? Thinking if something more was wrong they would of called me but they haven't .. Just put me on another antibiotic. @@Kristen le would I have to be referred to a urogynecologist ?

Thanks @@James Marusek they didn't tell me what the test said, just gave me another antibiotic. My surgeon was out of the office that day and another doctor read the results and said to give me this other antibiotic, made me kinda skeptical. Guess I should of called my doctor when he got back to the office. To double check. Because it didn't work.

If they switched antibiotics the culture may have come back insensitive to the one you were on. Give them a call if not better - sometimes you need longer treatment. Drink plenty of fluids. You can buy over the counter pain relief (AZO or Uristat) that help me a lot. If you take them - your pee is neon orange so don't freak out!

Catheters can easily cause a uti on its own.. or your immune system is low which makes you prone to catching infections. Low levels of food intake can make us easy targets for all sorts of illnesses which some seem to assume is a side effect of the surgery which in reality, is not.

I can and I will.

I had a UTI after surgery also.

I was told that before I had surgery I most likey had the beginning of a UTI

And by having the Cather during surgery it made it worse. I was also told it was common. I went to urgent care the first time they prescribed bactrim which did nothing. I went back to urgent care 6 day later because I became worse. They changes antiboditic to keflex and it resolved the UTI but I drank a lot of Water. And kept tight clear liquid diet.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
