I just had gastric sleeve surgery a week ago, so of course I'm on my three week liquid diet. But I have a question. Has any of y'all experienced strange food cravings? Because I feel like I'm pregnant again. (Which I'm not ) I'm just really craving a big meaty steak and dark chocolate and and a really good salad. I know sounds silly, but I'm just curious if it's just me or has anyone else had this experience after surgery?

Can't do Vitamins right now. Not until after my two week follow up with my surgeon. But once I get the ok, I hope taking Multivitamins will subside those cravings. And yes im doing the beef and chicken. But your absolutely right ! I am hungry. Lol !! But thank you for your post, it helps. :)

It's so strange how different plans are - I start Vitamins immediately.

Yes, I am too hungry. I have no idea what to eat on a puree stage and I do not cook. I just ate one fried chicken wings an a sugar free popsicle. Which was soooo satisfying.

Yup! I had cravings JUST like when I was pregnant as well. I wanted tacos soooooo bad! There were several cravings I had (seafood was another) but that was one that lasted for about a week. I still get cravings even now but it has lightened up now that I'm 1 month out. First few weeks were the hardest I think. Now I'm so focused on trying to figure out food that will give me more Protein without all the carbs that if I do have a craving, it's fleeting because it usually doesn't fit with what I NEED for that day.

@LJDavenport: I didn't have much of an appetite for a few months after surgery, but did have cravings - mostly for some salad and highly seasoned food of any variety. I made sure that my food choices fit the parameters of my plan and were high Protein, otherwise, I couldn't meet my daily Protein goal. 1/2 to 3/4 cup is still about all I can eat at a meal so I make sure I enjoy what I'm eating. It's still hard to get in a lot of veggies and a little bit of fruit each day. I still supplement my protein intake with a daily Protein shake or two.

@PRINCESS2218 - I've attached some information that my surgeon's office gave me when I began preparing for surgery. I hope it will help you with some ideas, and others who may not have received similar information from their surgeon's office.

Best to all who are learning this new way of life -- feeding our new tummies :)

Thank you so much MrsSugarbabe.

By the way love the name. It's been a very difficult first week so far, I think more out frustration if any. But I do know in the end it will be worth it. Thank you for the information once again.

So glad to know that I am not the only one having cravings!! The first thing I thought about after getting home from surgery was steak and mashed potatoes and now 2 1/2 weeks out I am craving mexican food I guess I just thought my cravings for food would just magically disappear after the surgery Glad someone said after a month their cravings went away because sorry but beef broth and refried Beans is not exactly what my tummy is craving but will have to do for now ;P

I'm on my 5th day post gastric sleeve & have cravings too. I guess are brains still long for our pre op lifestyles of being able to eat rich food at all times. The surgery was done to the stomach not the brain. Our brains are pretty much the same as always.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
