Do you ever feel like you can eat more than 1 cup at one sitting?

Recommended Posts

Like if you really tried, is there any way you would be able to eat more than 1 cup at a time?

Not sure how effective your surgery would be if you could. Why do you want to consume more?

It depends on what it is.....something that's more liquid or soft maybe.....but like the other poster said....why try? I don't eat until I'm full I try to eat only until I'm satisfied. I found that there is this very fine line between being full and one bite too much....so for me I'm safer when I shoot for satisfied because it leaves me a little more room for error.....If I shoot for "full" I end up running to the bathroom too often. :o

It would make me sick and uncomfortable if I overate, so I wouldn't try. I stop at the "I'm satisfied" even if there is just one more bite.

People eat around their sleeve all the time so it's definitely possible. I would be more concerned at why you want to than if it could happen.

I am almost 4 weeks post op and the best advice I received was eat until I'm satisfied and not full. I tried that the last few days and I feel so much better. If I feel myself getting hungry after eating I try to choose a healthier snack like a piece of fruit. However, this is a learning process. I have learned to give myself some slack. I have made some mistakes and have paid for it. Being full or overeating is so uncomfortable it's not really worth it. We all got the surgery bc in some way or another we had a bad relationship with food. That doesn't go away after surgery. I had to stop measuring and counting food because it started giving me anxiety. Stick with trying to eat the right foods, Beans, veggies, fruit, lean meat. Continue to try to learn and adapt to this new process and tool.

Yes you will be able to eat more than a cup. I still drink Unjury shake most days twice. Then a sensible dinner, in between I will munch on fruit or veggies. I do throw in about 4 yogurt pretzels sometime for a treat. I've been at a stand still for a long time so this is what I'm doing to try and get things moving again. I still have about 11 pounds to get rid of.

It's so hard for me to cook meals that I should be eating, my husband loves his noodles and rice. This was my staple for years seeing we've been together for11 years.

On those days I have had a cup of spaghetti, or a bit of rice when I fix him chicken and rice. I have gotten the whole wheat noodles and rice and he can't tell the difference.

I do all the time but it depends on what I am eating. I can eat 3 cups of salad greens easy, because salad is a slider.

I'm at 3 weeks post op and I can only stomach 1/2 cup of food right now. It takes me forever to eat! Because of my limits, eating is such a chore now. I only do it because I have too.

To my vets, what are the signs that you have eaten too much? I know they vary, but I wouldn't mind knowing the warning signs.

I am 4.5 months post-op, and I think I can eat about one and a half cups, or maybe 3/4 of a plate. I suppose it depends on what the surgeon did.

BEE - for me, first I will feel a little full, then I will feel a little nauseous. If I really overdo it I can feel pressure/tightness. I try to stop at the first stage, as I don't enjoy feeling sick!

I can eat about two cups of Soup, but it's mostly Water. I did eat too much once and it was soooo uncomfortable. I plan my meals and portions around hitting Protein goals, I'll eat until my stomach lets me know it's time to stop, if there's any left I'll set it aside for later, but it's usually not more than one or two mouthfuls.

I'm 2 weeks post op today. I can eat 1/4 to 1/2 cup of something like Soup. I don't like getting "full" its very uncomfortable So I just don't push it.

Today was first day of purees. I had 2-3 bites of my hubbys eggs for Breakfast.

I had some Tomato basil Soup an hour ago. I'm at a hotel so that bowl will likely last me today and tomorrow lunch and dinner. I ate about 10 spoonfuls and drank a few sips of lemon Water. I'm done! I don't feel full but I know that shouldve been enough. I'm not hungry and feel like that should hold me until dinner.

I'll just sip on Water and Protein shakes in the meanwhile.

I wouldn't want to try anything more. I'm just training myself to eat small and the sleeve is doing its job.

Just over 3 weeks post-op, I'm still only able to eat 1/3 cup puréed or soft foods but am finding I'm getting hungrier quicker so have been spreading 4-6 very small 'meals' over the course of a day.

I tend to get nauseous if I don't eat during the day and also very nauseous and I'll if I eat too quickly/too much so I only eat when I'm satisfied, like others have said, leaving room for error.

Since I'm not supposed to have fluids until 30 minutes after a meal, it's a task to get all my Water in during the day.

I'm 1 1/2 weeks post op (full liquids) and I am able to eat about a 1/2 cup of food. Just made a serving of cream of wheat, could only eat half.

As for my full sensation, I still learning it. I feel "topped out" and if I eat too much, I feel it try and slide back up. Not nauseated, just sliding up. I have to sit up really straight or stand for a while for the sensation to pass.

My surgeon said that my portion size will be about 3/4 cup when all healing is done. Don't have any other portion sizes except for liquids. Have been eating all other foods with small bites, chewing well and going slow until I feel satisfied, but not for more than 30 minutes. Am 3.5 weeks out.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
