OMG, how do I do it?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I don't post a lot but I do love to read everyone's input. I had my sleeve surgery back in Jan '14 so 2.5 years out. To date I have lost 100lbs but still need another 65 to be considered "normal". Some old habits have creeped back in and I am finding it hard to get back on track. How does one kickstart things again? what kind of menu do/should I be following to make things move in the right direction. I am currently eating between 1200-1400. Some input would be great.

Hi and welcome and congrats on your decision to "kick start" things and start moving in the right direction.....First congrats on your amazing results so far!!!

My surgery was just May 16th of this year so of course I can't speak from experience.....But I think a good first step for you would be to contact your NUT and get some help and suggestions there. Now as far as some ideas I've "heard" that worked for others.....if you're not tracking your food start now....make sure you're getting in all your Protein and fluids....another thing I've heard that helps is to sort of do a mini post op diet plan......just use your post op diet plan and go through the phases as if you've just had surgery....maybe spend a week in each phase....ie full liquids, puree, etc...

That's really all I can think of for now. I'm sure someone more experienced will chime in with some other suggestions as well;

Good luck to you!!!

Kathy

I can only speak for me, but when I am sliding back into bad habits, I simply go back to the basics. I do three or four days of Protein shakes only, and then a few days of two or three Protein Shakes and one meal of lean meat and veggies. I pretty much do my pre-op diet but I allow unlimited, non starchy veggies. Getting myself back into ketosis kickstarts things, gets the carb cravings out of my system, and refocuses my head..

It's not easy, but it works for me.

I'm 2.5 years out and at goal since 9 months out (down 150). I gained about 13 pounds 2 years out and fixed it by pulling out my notes from the nut. She recommended a level of calories and carbs for maintenance and when I abide by that I stay in check. I continue to measure and log to know exactly where I stand and this has worked well for me. But, of course everyone is different .

Thank you for the replies very much appreciated... I think deep down I know what I need to do... Stop the grazing, snacking and convenient 'naughty' food give myself a kick in the butt and go back to basics. I think getting my pre and post op notes out and doing a re-read sounds like a great idea....

      Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

        Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

        Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
