Good evening everyone! I just joined this group. After years of fluctuating weights and feeling unsure about having this surgery performed, I have decided to move forward. Today was my initial appointment and first meeting with the nutritionist. My insurance isa pain and I have to have 6 months worth of nutritionist appointments in order to qualify so I'm still a few months out before my surgery can take place.

I'm 31 and a mom to 4 beautiful children. My husband had the rue n y done when he was with his first wife and had a lot of success. He loves me exactly as I am, but I'm doing this for myself, my health and my future. I'm the smallest women in my family and every single woman has major health related issues due to being morbidly obese. I don't want to experience that. In 30 years, I want to be scuba diving with my husband, hiking the falls, and generally enjoying life!!

I'm currently 5'6 and weigh 252 lbs. (whew! That's tough to say) I took this collection of pictures the night before my appointment.

I'm looking forward to meeting others on this journey!! post-296384-1468552274012_thumb.jpg

I wish you much success. For now you're in a holding pattern until your surgery- but after- you will be so happy with your choice!

Hello Lisa and Mrs Norris

I am 36 married with 2 children and I can totally understand the family issues that come from obesity. I have several cousins and 1 sister who has had surgery in the last few years and they are doing well. I have type 2 diabetes and having the surgery could be a success in where I wouldn't have to take any medication. I had my bypass surgery July 12th and I came home yesterday July 14th. I feel fine just a headache but not too bad. I am trying to see how to add pictures but I can give you my Stats:

6'1

HW:380

SW: 315

GW:185

I wish you ladies much success in your journey!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
