Wow, after reading all of these newer posts, you all are doing great. I'm going to miss my mini-goal of 100 lbs by Jan 01 :cry, but am still trying. Keep the good work up, I hope everyone has a great Xmas holiday...Dave

Holy Smokes, Dave!!! I think you get the prize for most lbs lost out here! I would be proud of what you've done already, even if you don't make it to 100 lbs by the end of the year. I'm shooting for 60 lbs by then (2 lbs to go!)

Still Dave...88 pounds is no small victory! Your dedication is amazing.

I need my fill. I have not been doing very well over the last few days. I honestly think that most of it is all in my head. I know that once I get my fill, I won't be hungry and I won't want to eat. Less than 24 hours before I get that wonderful feeling of "nothingness" in my tummy. That is what it always felt like to me before. I didn't have any feeling when I was supposed to eat and I didn't have any feeling when I was finished. At first it was frustrating, now I can't wait! Well I am going to be headed over the mountains for my doctor's appt tomorrow. You should see the mountain pass...well actually you can't because it is covered in snow. this is the first time I have lived somewhere that I had to deal with mountain passes, and I don't like to drive in snow. Fortunately my BF grew up over here and it doesn't bother him a bit. I think I may take some of my post op liquid pain meds to knock me out so that I don't have a panic attack as we drive through 4 feet of snow with a cliff to our left! Okay, I know that I am blowing this out of proportion, but you are talking to a Seattle-ish area girl who doesn't know anything but rain. :rain: I loved snow when i was little because it meant NO SCHOOL! Now it means hazardous driving and still school. They haven't cancelled or delayed school here for snow in over 10 years and not for lack of it either. Well now that you have my weather forecast I will bid you a good weekend. I will not be back from the doctor until Sunday as we are having Christmas with my family this weekend also.

Pizzicato and Salsa, thanks for the kind words. I am happy with my results but still wanted to make that goal. I'm not giving up and have doubled my workout time from now till Jan 1st. Lets see if that can jumpstart me again.

Good luck Dave, I really do admire your determination. I just had a talk with myself that I was going to have that same determination back at 11:30 Am tomorrow. I know that sometimes we question if this band is always working, but have it not work for over a month and you realize how much it actually does for you. I don't ever want to go through being unfilled again. It does bad things to your brain. Funny how something in your tummy causes your brain to react!

Hello everyone and congratulations on your weight loss. I finally hit the 40 lbs weight loss today. I had my 2nd fill yesterday under fluro but forgot to ask him how much. I finally do have restriction but not sure if it is too tight. I Pb'd for the 1st time and big time today at lunch. I was at a Chinese restuarant and was only doing Soup (since told to do liquids today, then mushy tomorrow and if mushy ok, go to regular). Just like yesterday I noticed I have to take very small sips of Water and the soup. I ate a small piece of baked fish and had to make a mad run for the rest room. So now I know what you all had been meaning when you said it was like slime coming up. Uuuggh. Should I only be able to only sip a little bit at a time or am I too tight? I'll see how I do tomorrow after eating some grits for Breakfast, then call the doctor if it's a problem. I'm very proud of being able to lose 40 lbs w/no restriction and my goal of reaching 50 lbs by 6 month anniversary is in February so I am on the right path and can see that 50 lb mark staring at me. Again, congrats to all and keep on losing.

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I cooked and cooked and cooked only to not be able to eat much of anthing. This is definitely one of those "too tight days". Yesterday, we had Movie night and pizza. I was surprisingly able to get 1 and a half slices of Pizza down but that's not the case today. I so wanted to eat a piece of cake and a piece of meat but I PB's right after the 1st bite. It's all good though. I've dropped 4 lbs since my fill last week and for that I am happy. I had a wonderful and blessed Christmas. I am so thankful for all of our blessings and thank God for this band. I got so many compliments today to the point my DH got a little bit jealous!!! I hope everyone else had a great Christmas (as I'm sitting here watching my GD play with her treasure full of pretend Clothes dancing to a Dora CD)!!! Priceless!

Great job, everyone!

I've let myself have goodies and just tried to get my Protein in first, so I did go down 1.5 lbs (maybe a little shy of it, but I'm counting it all).

My niece just graduated with a health science degree and said she'd help me FINALLY kick-start my exercise this week before she starts her new fitness job in January. We're both signing up for a 1 week free membership at Lifetime and she said she'd help me get through a fitness test and plan out a workout schedule (she's also a personal trainer). She put on a few lbs this past semester between working at a steakhouse and studying a lot, so she's on a mission to lose a few lbs before she starts her job selling fitness memberships as a traveling marketing specialist.

I'm SO proud of her and thrilled she'll be home for a bit without a between-class job to worry about. Her gentle nature really helped me with my decision to get banded and get a new lease on life!

Hope you're all enjoying the holidays and not too buried in snow!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
