Why does this have to be so hard?

Recommended Posts

I am sitting at my desk at work trying to convince myself not to vomit. My lunch something I have eaten since I was able to eat solid food, including twice this week, is not sitting well. I had Thai chicken with peanut sauce and veggies. and a peach. I had a peach last night with no problems so its not that, but maybe the combination. It doesn't feel like dumping or foamies and no pain really, but its definitely not happy. Why can't my stomach just figure out waht it can eat and leave it at that. I already know that things don't end up tasting nearly as good as they smell, which is so disappointing, but now...

Sorry, Just had to rant a bit. I guess life is always an adventure...

nothing ever made me sick until I tried to eat like a normal (post WLS) person right before I came back to work after my bereavement leave. ate food I always ate - SICK SICK SICK. foamies. YUK. since then, I've been fine. sometimes it's just weird, you know?

I always take a half hour at lunch, but sometimes now I need 45 minutes to let my tummy settle after I eat, if I am going to be out front where other people see me. :D

at almost 5 months out, I find food tastes better now my palate is not cluttered with some of the not good for you food I used to eat. I hope it becomes that way for you too. If I can only eat a little bit, I want it to taste good!

I'm betting it may have just been too much.....the hard thing is what is too much one day may be fine at another time....and what is just enough one day may be way too much another....or at least that's the way it is with me with the sleeve....I see you're a bypass patient....so maybe not.

If you have to, you'll feel better after throwing up......I know that's not ideal while at work....but it is what it is.

I hope you feel better soon!!

I find the same feeling when I eat to fast/too much with something with sauces. (Even though I eat sugar free sauces)

The sauces go thru faster if I do not concentrate on eating very slow, and bang, I feel it.

Only happened a couple times, but really got my attention on not what to do.

That's just life post WLS. I'm 3 years out (band) and a lot of factors go into what I can eat and when. It's not fun, but you're going to have to get use to it.

Thanks all. I felt better as the afternoon went on. I think it might have been too much. Even though I ate less than I usually do. I will try again another day.

What are the foamies?

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

it is like I was vomiting, but not food - it was this foamy slimy spit like substance that was not quite like spit. and forceful vomiting. I couldn't imagine what it was until I experienced it.

Puke, rehydrate, and eat less next time. Try not to make puking a habit you don't want to end up bulimic.

1. It's better then stretching out your stomach.

2. You'll feel better.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
