Hi all! Well my surgery is right around the corner. Very excited but getting very nervous. Not about the surgery, but after. I am a stay at home mom and I have three kids. Ages 9,3,1.

I ended up having to cancel my surgery 4 times because those who would have helped me had changes in plans. I came to the conclusion that there was no good time for me to have surgery, so I am pushing forward anyway!

Getting nervous because my husband can only take off the day of my surgery, which is also the first day of school. I have have my daughters friend picking her up and dropping her off for the week, and my bil is watching the kids so my husband can take me to surgery. But that is it. So the next day I am on my own!

Very nervous about it. I told my husband that if I have to I will just sit on the floor (so my youngest has access to me) for the six hours my daughter is in school, and then she will relieve me until my husband comes home...YIKES! Hope I can do it...no, I know I can do it...but I hope it doesn suck to bad!

Now I just ahve to make it through silverwood (an amusement park), we are going there for 4 days next week, right before my surgery...Yikes! So I have to mind my p's and q's on eating. Can this get anymore nervewracking?!?!;)

Don't you know ANYONE who could help out the first two days? This is MAJOR SURGERY and you will be healing. This is NOT a time to be bouncing around trying to watch a 1 year old. I'm sorry if this sounds bad, but you are putting yourself at some risk here. I did nothing but sleep for the first two days. So then what if you suddenly realize you CANNOT handle the day? What are you going to do? I would really rethink this. I am sure I will get a lot of crap from everyone for my answer, but this is not something to take lightly in my opinion.

Aloha Carey

I don't mean to sound mean but here goes, My dear sweet wife is having her surgery on the 29th. and I taking the week off. Does your husband know about the family leave act? I don't think he would get paid but it's only two days. I can't think of a job that is so important that I couldn't take sometime off to take care of my wife..I'm a man and I hear it all the time my husband can't take off work to care for me, well that's just bull@*$ he needs to be there for you, tell him from the "Big Wave" Dude you need to get'er done and be there for the Love of his life and the mother of his children

Sorry to vent, it's just makes me mad

Take care and God Bless you

Aloha

No offense taken! ;)

I have had three c-sections (one an emergency) and three hand surgeries. If it is anything less than a c-section, I will be fine in about two days. My poor husband has had to take a ton of work off this summer, and is not the villan in this saga, as I was trying not to ask for more, but I just did, and he is going to work from home for a few days after my surgery...;)

Thanks for the feedback! My theory was, if it is less than a c-section, and more than a hand surgery, then I should be fine for a couple hours the next day. But apparently I might need more help! Thanks guys that is what I needed to know and why I made this post. :)

Not even to mention the part that after surgery you may not be able to straighten up for a while. I didn't have much of a problem after the first two days, but NO WAY would I have been able to "carry on" as usual. There are any number of side effects you could have...including the GAS that can be pretty darned dibilitating, depending on how it hits you. I think of myself as a hugely FAST healer and had none of the complaints a lot of folks here post about, but I would NEVER want to be responsible to carry on a household and watch children in that condition. Not to mention, you can't pick anything up.

Big Wave Dave is RIGHT ON. Not to villify your hubby, but this IS major surgery. I've heard some people liken it to c-section in the way they felt. I wouldn't know. But even to have someone the second day will make a huge difference. You could really retard your healing process if you push it too much.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
