I feel like I can hold too much..

Recommended Posts

Apart from a couple shakes I usually have a small 6oz cup of cottage cheese and fruit, or a cup of yogurt, or I can even hold a whole egg and slice of cheese.. I'm 3 wks out from surgery. I see people a year out that only hold a few bites.. It makes me concerned about my intake.. I'm not overly full either. Suggestions?

@@Mjohnson4631 It sounds like you're still on soft foods. Once you start eating more dense foods like baked chicken and such you'll feel much more restriction.....or at least I did. I sort of felt the same way you do while on soft foods....Now, my limit is about 2oz of chicken.< /p>

Hang in there. You'll be fine.

I agree. I felt same way on full liquid/cream. Now on mushy foods like chicken salad it is a few bites and if I eat too fast or don't chew not good. When on Soups, shakes, cottage cheese, and yogurt I thought I could eat much more than the serving.

Make an effort to measure your foods anyways, even slider foods. Your new tummy is still healing. My favorite new thing is 5 oz dixie cups not quite full. I drink Water, zero gatorade, Protein Shake, and put yogurt, measure out Soup. Then Voila toss them out!!

I worry about that too. I'm on soft foods for another three weeks, and I just vaguely feel the restriction.

@@Mjohnson4631 Hey! I came across your post and I am having the same problem! I feel like I can eat and drink more than I should be. It's really weird. I'm a month post op tomorrow, 7/20. I'm hooked on pickles without the skin and orange juice. It's the weirdest thing!

Where in the world do you get pickles without skin? I love pickles!!

I'm the same. Two weeks out and I was able to eat two scrambled eggs without a drama for dinner. Also 1/2 cup of mashed tinned salmon at lunch. I'm sticking to the correct measures but worried because I was warned how full I would feel and that even a tea spoon more would hurt or come back up. I didn't have any extra but id love to know how many more bites would have done me in.

I'm 11 days post op and I get bored of my.liquids. I had a piece of Irish potato the size of a dice and mushy mushy it out and I am so full. Wondering if I did that too early

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
