AprilMRN 1 Posted October 27, 2016 Hey y'all!!! I'm new and just starting this process! I'm in Montgomery! I have a question. Do any of you have BCBS of AL? If so did you all submit pics instead of the 3 yrs of recorded weight requirement? Thanks!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
fscavs 3 Posted October 27, 2016 We have BCBS of AL. My wife and I had the surgery together. I was missing one year of medical records and she was missing two. We submitted photos for the missing years and were approved in about a week.
AprilMRN 1 Posted October 27, 2016 @@fscavs Wow! That's great! I hope I have that same experience! Do you know where the date has to be on the pictures submitted? On the back printed or handwritten? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
fscavs 3 Posted October 27, 2016 We emailed them to the insurance liaison at the weightless office ,so we named the photo file by the year it represented. The lady at the office submitted to insurance. I don't know if she changed anything before submitting.
evansella7 4 Posted December 30, 2016 Lala62,first 2 days I only slept. The pain wasn't bad as I thought just the gas pains where horrible!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Hi am set for surgery in 20 days did they do the nicotine test! I am nerveous Sent from my SM-S820L using the BariatricPal App
fscavs 3 Posted December 30, 2016 (edited) I don't know about the nicotine test. They drew blood during surg prep. If they ran the test, they ran it from that. The surgery itself was nothing. I was sore, but not much pain. The only time I used my pain pump was when my back (pinched nerve) hurt so bad from lying in bed and I wanted to go to sleep. My appendectomy 24 years ago was much worse. I was uncomfortable in the left shoulder from the gas, so I was up and walking a few hours after surgery. I didn't want to eat or drink afterwards which made the leak test where you fill up on a liquid miserable, but doable. With the weight loss since surgery, my back pain has all but disappeared. We moved residence recently and I would not have been able to do that without severe back pain a year or two ago. I would do the surgery again in a heartbeat. My quality of life has greatly improved. You go thru brief phases where you feel regret or depression that you can't eat like everyone else. So expect those, it's just your mind coping with the changes. Think about the benefits your getting. I'm off blood pressure medicine and GERD medicine. It's more than worth it. Best wishes, and good luck!
