Garmin Devices

Recommended Posts

I am looking to buy a wearable device from Garmin and am currently considering 3 devices: 1) Vivosmart HR+; 2) Vivoactive HR; and 3) Forerunner 235. Does anyone have any experience with these Garmin products or others? I am not a runner, so I think that the Forerunner 235 might not be worth the cost. I would like to monitor heart rate, and steps at a minimum.

Love my vivofit...but it is an earlier version. Love: how it syncs, how it keeps track of steps, how it syncs with my fitness pal to help keep track with my calories still available after exercise...and especially that I NEVER have to take it off, even wear it in the shower, and it runs on a watch battery so I don't have to charge it ever. but being female, I wish it was a little better looking since I haven't taken it off in 6 months.

Have a VivoSmart here, really like it. Garmin makes some solid fitness trackers. I had originally planned on picking up a Fitbit but the fact that the VivoSmart was waterproof (the HR+ is also) sealed the deal for me. I never take mine off.

I have a vivofit2. I love mine for all the reasons that @@freelee mentioned above. Its all the reasons I went with garmin instead of fitbit. Now that I am running, I wish I had paid the extra for the HR version, but when I bought it, I went with the most basic that had the time on it so it doubles as a watch. If and when it dies, or perhaps when I just feel a bit rich, I will likely upgrade to an HR version. I do have to say that it seems like there are lots more options with HR than there were when I bought mine in December.

I ended up ordering the Garmin Vivoactive HR. The features that I liked include heart rate monitoring from the wrist, step counting, sleep monitoring, and large display.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
