DOES EVERYONE LOG?

Recommended Posts

I've taken breaks in logging and found I can easily gain a few lbs if I rely on guessing. People are far more likely to underestimate their calorie intake if they don't measure and log. It can be annoying, even with the great apps, but it's necessary for short and long term success.

Fit bit. I know that I will need to keep track of food as my diet expands to fully understand my progress and any needed changes. I also plan to bring to my nut appointments.

I like fit but for tracking variety of things. Do wish I could add a Protein tracker to it.

For 25 months (started 2 months pre-op) I've been planning and tracking all my food / drink on My Fitness Pal.

I also weigh every morning and record my weight in MFP.

It's the second-best tools (the sleeve is #1) that has helped me lose all my excess weight and maintain my weight at or below goal (for the last 14 months).

It's essential for me. I plan to do this for the foreseeable future. :)

P.S. I think those who track are a pretty small minority of WLS patients.

The number of WLS people that track are small but the one thing I seem to notice is almost everyone that is successful long term, they track.

I use my fitness pal. That way I can link my map my walk/hike/bike etc to it so my exercise goes right onto it with my food that I logged.

Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

I haven't had my surgery yet but I've already started logging everything to get in the habit. I use SparkPeople. That way I can log on my computer or the app. I like having that option.

October will be my 2 year surgiversary. I have been logging in MFP even before the surgery. I believe I have a streak of 635 days consistent logging and plan to continue logging my meals. This is something that has become a part of my life\routine and keeps me in check.

I log every day using the Lose It app. It's so easy and I enjoy logging my meals every day and my weight once a week. I also keep track of my Water on this app. They have competitions you can join and you earn badges for meeting certain goals. I plan to keep logging. I'm 14 months since surgery.

I have logged for 572 days in a row. I was in the hospital for conversion from sleeve to bypass because of uncontrolled acid and I logged everything I consumed in the hospital from my Protein shake, to the diet cranberry juices . . . although the calories and nutrition were negligible, I didn't want to break my streak. I use MyFitnessPal and believe it has contributed greatly to my success. It takes, at most, 10 minutes out of my day. I also log my weight, up, down or consistent, every single day. That much structure isn't for everyone, but it works for me.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
