Not everyone on this board does but I would say it is the majority. I use Livestrong/My Daily Plate and love it. Most people here use My Fitness Pal. Another one that is supposed to be pretty good is Lose It. Even at goal I am using it to stay on track. I have no way of knowing how much Protein / carbs / fat / calories without it.

@

I'm two years out and I still log my food.

I track five days a week and take the weekend off.

When I don't track, I have no Idea if I made my Protein goals. I'm a busy person. I never know when I can get small breaks to eat. Tracking helps to keep my body fueled correctly.

Yes! 8 months out & 100 lbs down and I track using FitBit app every day. I feel if I didn't I would quickly lose control of my eating habits. Tracking helps me get my Protein in, keep carbs down and maintain healthy eating habits.

I do. I use the Lose It app. It keeps me on track because without it I would forget certain foods I eat and have a difficult time keeping up with my Fluid and Protein intake.

I normally use mapmywalk to track my workouts. not right now - but I will get back to it by September.

I track my food a few times a month on there just as a check. I don't normally track my food. I tend to eat the same things, and my Snacks and such I measure on the weekend - so I can be fairly confident of my portion sizes and Protein etc. I don't have time to track my food every day all the time - never have. I do like map my walk because I have worked out the nutrition in some of my own personal recipes and it saves them so now it's an easy thing on those days when I do track.

@ -- not everyone logs. Those who do do well. Those who don't often are iffy at best.

Logging is more than tracking what goes into your mouth on a daily basis. It can be useful when changes are indicated to improve rate of weight loss.

HI I WAS WONDERING IF MOST EVERYONE DOES LOGS

I do. I can't remember what I did 10 minutes ago, so without logging I would never know whether or not I was meeting my Protein target.

I've been logging for 3+ years, down over 200 lbs and I think my accountability and keeping track of things on myfitnesspal is a big part of that.

I tracked before surgery off and on for years in fitbit. I used to not track on my bad days. I have to say that was a huge mistake.

I track now, everything, no matter how small. I try to avoid eating things I can't find the nutrition on.

I use loseit premium and I like it because I can add my recipes and make servings and it does all the math for me. You can also set a lot of different types of goals and track them. I have never been able to get into my fitness pal and their yearly rate for premium is ridiculous when it is filled with so much mis information on calorie counts.

Anyway, track your food all of your food. It is important to success. Some days I feel like I have ate a ton but I am under calories and Protein. If I didn't track I would never know.

For 25 months (started 2 months pre-op) I've been planning and tracking all my food / drink on My Fitness Pal.

I also weigh every morning and record my weight in MFP.

It's the second-best tool (the sleeve is #1) that has helped me lose all my excess weight and maintain my weight at or below goal (for the last 14 months).

It's essential for me. I plan to do this for the foreseeable future. :)

P.S. I think those who track are a pretty small minority of WLS patients.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
