Where is YOUR port located?

Recommended Posts

Pat, you'll be able to answer your own question by the time you read this. I jumped on this thread late, and I seem to be in a minority: my port is near my left hipbone. At the moment there is absolutely no danger of it protruding! Even when I get close to my goal weight it'll probably be padded, to judge from the 19th-century photos of my pear-shaped female ancestors. I haven't had any trouble with the port so far, and it doesn't hurt at all.

I'm happy to say, as of 26 hrs ago, my port is now in place on my right side between my right boob and rib...I think! I know it's under one of these bandages. Although on the xray this am it looked like it was on the left, I'm not really sure where it is, I just know I got one!

My port is just above the bellybutton on the left side. I have never felt it except when it itched while it was healing. Oh and after the one fill I had:)

Hi All I was bande the same day as harleynana

and my port is on the ribcage on my left. i asked my surgeon about the 10cc thing and he said he no longer uses the 4cc ones and all his patients are fitted with 10cc as he felt it allowed more flexibility for fills.. Mind you he was the most amazing looking man for his age and i was gazing at him quite adoringly at the time so he could have located my port by my ass for all i cared....lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
