Twinmom07 63 Posted July 12, 2016 hi all! I am 6 days post op. First week was Clear Liquids. Tonight, started full liquids. I blended up Cream of chicken Soup And it went down great. Then, I ventured on to a sugar free fudge pop. All was well. Then out of the blue....dIarrhea...3 times in the past hour. Is this normal? Does it mean I am not ready? Or is my body just catching up? Is this dumping? I didn't have sugar. Anyone else have This? Thanks for any help....I don't see doc until Wed.

I tried Protein shakes, had diarrhea, I tried a creamed soup, same outcome. I moved myself back to clear liquids for a couple of days, then tried again and it was fine. It just wasn't time yet, I guess.
milpreve 38 Posted July 15, 2016 Diarrhea is, from what I understand, normal after surgery. Remember we all did that bowel prep, so the last movement we had was pretty liquid. Then we had our guts messed with and filled them with nothing but liquids. I started full liquids my 2nd or 3rd day after surgery. I still didn't poop for a week, and when I finally did it was diarrhea. Also, you asked about dumping. One benefit of the sleeve as opposed to Roux-en-Y is that we don't have to worry about dumping. Dumping occurs because there is no sphincter restricting the movement of food from the stomach pouch into the intestines for Roux-en-Y-ers. We retain our sphincter! Dumping has been described to me as cold sweats, shakiness, and nausea. It occurs when the stomach contents "dump" into the intestines.

I didn't do a bowel prep for my sleeve...I ate a normal dinner the night before and was NPO from midnight on. I'm STILL going from diarrhea to Constipation, it's so frustrating. You may have had a reaction from the sugar alcohols in the fudge pops too. Take it slow and see how things go.
