olamae 16 Posted July 12, 2016 (edited) I have an insurance now that doesn't cover bariatric. Come January 1st I'll have Aetna which covers it. I'm doing the 6 month weigh ins according to Aetnas policy. Will they accept weigh ins under the insurance I have now? justhere4theshow 462 Posted July 12, 2016 You really need to speak with Aetna. You don't want to waste time and resources if it won't help you in the end.
tholbert08 51 Posted July 12, 2016 I don't think they will but yes, call your account rep and verify. Typically it is like coverage requirements from previous insurance but this is not technically a medical necessity from their standpoint. I would ask before you go through all of that. Good luck. LadyK44 263 Posted July 12, 2016 Over two years ago when I changed insurance they did not. I had to start from Jan took until 8/1 before I had surgery. It was worth it. I would do it again and again. Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App
olamae 16 Posted July 18, 2016 Ok spoke with an Aetna rep and they will accept the dieting prior to being on their plan!
SouthernSpinoza 2 Posted July 19, 2016 Ok spoke with an Aetna rep and they will accept the dieting prior to being on their plan! That makes sense. Just like if you switch doctors. They will look at the supervised weight loss as a whole, no matter what doctor you used. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
