abreland 10 Posted July 12, 2016 Being self pay, I'm excluded from a lot of the lengthy preop insurance requirement but I still have to meet with w dietitian once and be release for surgery by my cardiologist (I have a leaky valve).....he said caffeine is ok, carbonation has to go, and start low carb/high fat diet.....I'm terrible at configuring labels, good carbs, bad carbs, good fat, bad fat.....any recommendations would be helpful. KristenLe 5,979 Posted July 12, 2016 @@abreland Go with a high proten/low carb. Protein - tuna, chicken, fish, cottage cheese, cheese, greek yogurt, Beans, etc. Some good carbs would be fruit and vegetables (no Pasta, rice, bread, sweets, etc.). Good fat would be avocado, nuts, olive oil, etc. My plan suggests less than 5 gms of sugars (added sugar) and less than 5 gms fat in a serving of what I eat. Your nutritionist should be able to give you more information and guidance. Ask questions - and write everything down - ask for handouts for anything you may need too. Good luck.
