Elle09 157 Posted July 16, 2016 I think someone pre-op or considering surgery I would let them know the surgery is a tool and not a miracle worker and that they would have to want to commit to some lifestyle changes for success, but it can be done. Post op I would let someone know this can be challenging but if they stick to their plan and follow the guidance of the surgeon and NUT they will find success. Drink lots of water! I would also let them know whether pre-op or post op ask lots of questions to caregivers. I would also tell them to enjoy the changes and have fun! Montana Gal 448 Posted July 16, 2016 I would warn those post op that there will be lots of air pumped into their stomach during surgery in order for the surgeon to see what he/she is doing. When you wake you will more than likely have pain in your chest, shoulders, upper back and abdomen. Walk as soon as possible. Walk several times per day, up and down the halls to help move the surgical air and decrease the pain.
