BUT here I am. I have replied to others post who are down and out, with hopefully encouraging words....but now im the one whose down and out. I have been having off and on bouts of depression. I get sad because the stupid scale hasn't moved in 2 weeks. Ive only lost a few lbs since the actual surgery (about 19lbs including pre-diet) and it has me wondering if it will work for me. I am 3 weeks out. I am drinking Protein and Water. I make an effort everyday to eat something pureed but it hurts going down so it makes me feel like my tummy isn't ready...will it ever be? or will it hurt to eat for the rest of my life? Today for lunch I tried eating mashed low carb meatloaf I made last night and a tablespoon of mashed sweet potatoe. People comment (already) that ive lost so much weight and I just think "Really??? really? Ive only lost 8 lbs" I look in the mirror and while I see somewhat of a difference its not much and while I don't expect to be 50lbs lighter after 3 weeks I did expect to loose more than 8lbs!!!!

Im sleepy all the time...just straight SLEEEPY. I come to work and yawn 50 times within the first hour. I go home and care for my 9 and 2 yr old boys. They see Mommy tired all the time. We go to the park and take walks...doesn't help much. The struggle is REAL!

That is all.

At 3 weeks out I was not allowed meatloaf, pureed or not. My purees were mashed potato, cream of wheat, things like that.

Maybe slow down on the beef and go for some things that will be easier on your system for a while.

And just because the scale isn't moving doesn't mean your body isn't changing.

People 3 weeks out usually have a 3 week stall. Google it.

@@reachbree - I remember coming home all excited to start losing wieght...sigh, I gained I think 8 f****** pounds while I was gone (it was all IV Fluid and everything I was drinking) but it finally clicked and it happens usually in such a way you don't notice until your pants fall off.

Stay on program, walk stay off the scale for 10 days. It will be hard, may have to have your guy hide it for you. Physics will catch up to biology sooner or later. Good luck, you can do it.

1. Stay off the scale for a while

2. You are doing just fine in your weight loss. Lower your expectations (or try to get rid of them completely).

3. It isn't a race to solid foods. I wasn't even allowed to try purees for four weeks post op. If your body isn't ready for them, then stick with your liquids for another week or so then try again. It won't hurt you to wait.

4. It is completely normal to be exhausted for weeks (multiple weeks!) after major surgery like this. Give yourself a break and treat yourself kindly.

5. Yes, your stomach will eventually be able to handle all textures of food and you will get your energy back. But this is major, traumatic surgery! You need to give yourself time and not expect everything to be back to "normal" right away. But you will get there, I promise.

I don't need to add anything other than support; the folks who've already commented are giving you great advice. I just wanted to let you know that I went through the exact same thing as you. Your tummy hurts because it's doing some major repair after what it's been through. I was so convinced that I would never lose weight, that the surgery would surely fail just like all of my other attempts to lose weight have failed. I no longer believe that, because even though I am not dropping pound after pound as fast as I would like, my clothes are fitting looser and my face and hands are "deflating". We all lose in individual ways I suppose, and I find it fascinating that I have such tiny wrists now. My watch spins around on my wrist and my rings are all loose. Go figure. I hope you start to feel better soon. I know how hard it is, and how much you want to see that scale move. I am with you all the way on that one. Hang in there. It will get better. It just takes time.

@@reachbree I hear ya girl. I thought I was very well prepared for everything, including the stall and the moods and the fatigue, but when you're in the midst of it, it definitely isn't a fun thing :( Hang in there. Just like with surgery, you will make it through to the other side. ♥♥♥

Just follow the laid out plan your medical team gave you. The losing will come. Some it comes faster than others.

Stay Strong!!

@@reachbree Your hormones are all out of whack. Give yourself time to heal. Do what you can to get in your Protein and fluids - don't worry about introducing pureed foods. Rest as much as possible. Stay hydrated! If depression becomes an issue - talk to your Dr. You can get through this!

You are healing , that is why your stomach hurts and why you are so tired. You sound like hey busy working mom that is exhausting in itself. I came home and napped almost everyday after work for the first month I'm at about 48 days post off and and just feeling my energy return. There are still a lot of foods that I cannot tolerate. So I always go for the Protein shakes as a backup

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
