bini120 163 Posted July 11, 2016 I didn't have a live swallow test, so never got to see. My practice has said it is as big as 'a highlighter pen' to 'a straw' to the 'thick end of your thumb' - so I'm not really sure.... I'm 3 weeks post-op (how time flies) so granted I'll have some swelling still....

bini120 163 Posted July 11, 2016 Yes! The bananas you get in American grocery stores are massive (8+ inches) and ones found in Asia (and I think also the UK) tend to be much smaller (5+ inches).
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted July 11, 2016 It looks like a banana but empty I doubt it is that wide at all. The highlighter is probable the most accurate. Honestly there is no way to really tell. I have never heard of a Dr actually measuring while operating. They use the bougie as a guide but they can only get so close, so it isn't the actual size of the bougie either. time_for_me 12 Posted July 11, 2016 When I had my swallow test at 2 weeks, a 1/2 of a dixie cup of that pink stuff filled mine up. I'm sure some of that is from swelling but the doc said that is a good frame of reference for how much I should eat.
