Pre-OP Physicals [emoji54][emoji1320]

Recommended Posts

I just completed my 6mo supervised diet on Friday (last thing had to complete)...they said they were going to submit everything to insurance for approval this week... I saw a couple people write about a pre-op physical... Is this something I should schedule right away with my PCP? Is this something that's required for insurance approval or no?

Once insurance approves the surgery (which I don't foresee a problem) .... How long do you think before I get a call to schedule surgery? And is there one or two pre-OP physicals that need to be done?? Also, what do the physicals consistent of? (Chest X-rays, labs, etc?)

Generally pre-op physicals are required by the surgeon. Mine took almost a full day at the hospital. Several types of tests. If any areas of concern are identified during these physicals, they can lead to a second round of individual tests under specialized doctors in their respective field.

Also I underwent a half day of training that went over everything required for surgery and also post-op requirements. They gave me a 1/2 binder full of information of rules to follow after surgery.
