I don't think the hernia repair has much to do with it.

I agree.....those of us that had hernia repair think some of our discomfort is related.....but on the other hand we never had the sleeve surgery without the hernia repair so who knows?? Maybe the symptoms are the same no matter what.....I just know I had a lot of chest pain for the first several days......but the good news is either way, it does get better for sure!!! I'm 8 weeks today and feel completely normal.

My hernia was pretty bad with a lot of pre-op Gerd, to the point I thought I was having heart attacks.

In my paper work, classes and instruction notebook the post op instruction and what to expect were the same for everyone. There wasn't a separate information packet for those that were having a repair. Thankfully at 6 months post op I've had no acid attacks.

I am getting down an entire 11 oz premier Protein shake. It is 30 grams Protein. I haven't gotten any Water down yet. That is next. I have been able to get a 16.9 oz of Water down and then a 16.9 oz of crystal light. That is usually it.

I get really confused on these so called "full" feelings. I don't get them anymore drinking. With small sips or big sips. Which scares me. When I eat my sf Popsicles at 15 calories each they go down really well and don't make me feel full. But anytime I try to "eat" my liquified Soup (4 tbsp) day with the bariatric app to take 20 sec for each bite (swish since liquid) it still sits at the top of my belly. I guess that is the full feeling.

@@LACRACRA2 You won't really get a full feeling with liquids.....That will come when you start more solid type foods. Don't worry about getting too full on liquids...just drink as much as you can and continue to increase your fluids. You will not stretch your sleeve with Fluid...It goes right though so just keep drinking.

sounds like you're doing better. It will continue to get better each day.

Yep, for me it was around day 7 or so before I could drink a little bit more, but it was just a few sips max. Even now, 5 weeks out, it is easier to drink Crystal Light than it is regular Water for some reason.

I was the same way right after surgery, I preferred the CL after surgery till around 10 weeks, at that point I switched to Water because I just didn't like it or got tied of it. Since then it's been the water and just had a glass of CL on a couple of occasions.

The hernia repair definitely has something to do with liquids going down... I used to have a lap band, and with the hernia repair site it almost functioned like the band did because of a small pouch liquid sat in before going down. I'm 2 weeks out and that's definitely gotten better, so I think there was some internal swelling that caused that restriction. Things are going down much better now thankfully. Hang in there it just takes time for your body to heal.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
