Monet1.scott 6 Posted July 11, 2016 Has anyone ever experienced gastritis a couple months post surgery? I'm 2 months op and all of sudden developed gastritis. I don't smoke, drink or take NSAIDs. I was told by my surgeon to take a PPI twice/day. It's going on almost 2 weeks and no relief. And I am miserable from the pain (and for those of you that are going to recommend I go back to my surgeon I have an appt Tuesday I just want to see if anyone has any in sight or has been through this) Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
pr_pitbullgrl 1,039 Posted July 11, 2016 ive had gastritis for years. they said they were going to do something in my surgery that would relieve it but it's still the same. i take omeprozole one a day and it keeps it at bay. it can get really bad if i don't. can you get some? beachbum0624 2 Posted July 15, 2016 I had my surgery almost almost 3 years ago. Since then, I've visited the ER 4-5 times thinking I was having a heart attack. Had pain in the center of my lower chest just above my stomach area & found it hard to take a deep breath. As of last December, following a barium study, it was determined that I have acid reflux & the pain was coming from that (I was also told by the radiologist that my pain was in the same area as my surgical clips). My doctor prescribed Protonix but because it caused Constipation I stopped taking it. Six days ago I had another episode but this time I also experienced nausea, chills, & weakness along with the chest pain & have felt slightly nauseous & weak since. My doctor had me have a complete abdominal ultrasound & I am still awaiting the results. In the meantime, I have begun the Protonix again along with a stool softener. Time will tell if the Protonix will stop the painful episodes but I am definitely giving it a chance this time!
